TI Releases ROM v1.15 for the 83+
Posted by Nick B. on 26 August 2002, 05:52 GMT

OS 1.15 has magically become available for the 83+. We're told that this version adds two features: TI-keyboard support and improved support for the CBL2 on the Silver Edition.

If either of these things apply to you, or you complusively need the latest and greatest thing, visit the TI store and select the appropiate subsection.

Well that's cool.
Unfortunately I always have a hard time with the current winzip that I have. Maybe someone could email it to me?

you don't necessarily have to use WinZip, there are plenty of cool progs out there, just look at www.download.com for instance. WinRar or WinAce can open zips too and i personally, only use that embedded zip that comes with WinME/XP (maybe 2k?)

I used to use the ME unzipping program, but it stopped working, now I use Quickzip, which I highly dislike, no one use it it sucks. Does anyone know how to fix the windows zipper back to the default one, I tried uninstalling Quickzip, but that didn't work.
I use stuffit expander on my Mac though

If you go to the add/remove programs control panel, and then to the windows components panel, there is a check box for the compressed folder option (or so i think, I stopped using ME a while ago). If that is not checked, check it, if it is, i would uncheck it, hit ok... then restart, and check it again, that way it will be reinstalled, and probably take control of the .zip extension again.

Hey I was wondering can you program games like mario on you TI-83?
If so what are the directions?
I know many of my friend have mario and i want it to. but i dont have a connection kit .

And since when has Ti supported games, when I bought my Ti-83+, then strongly discouraged Games.

83+ users can download it for free from TI's site. (And from detachedsolutions.com of course.)

Hahaha, check out this question someone posted on TI's message board. Yeah, those guys ARE complete idiots

"I can't donload the CD, on my Windows. Is there anything else that I can do to down load it?"

and another;

"I had a buddy of mine set up my calculator, and i let my cousin play with it, and know it won't let me put like 10 to 20 games on it. I need to know how my buddy did that with my calculator. I have a TI 83 Plus Silver Edition. Please help me. Don't say read this. Please. Just tell me how he did it. Thanks "

"I see the line, but no x or y axis. Do I have to format the calculator?"

"When i put UNCLE WORM on it and pressed enter under the program part under the memory, instead of the number staying at 2082 mem, it went to 17 mem. Can you tell me how to make it so it stays the same. That was how my buddy did it."

If it were that easy, ticalc's archives would be flooded with Mario games.
I gave up trying to read the boards ...

Heh. Somebody who read that even made a post in TI's 82/83(+[SE]) board to make fun of us. Yes, it's a large flow-through of total n00bs who wouldn't know a manual if you hit them in the face with it, and a small number of dedicated people answering the same things over and over.

You think what's there now is bad, we actually get questions like "how do you type a comma" and "how do you make a fraction". And I do mean we've gotten those more than once. Not to mention the deluge of people who have
never heard of ticalc.org, so they don't know where to get games
don't know what a zip file is or that you can't send them right to the calculator
can't handle a simple thing like TI Connect on their own
ignore the game's readme file so that they don't know they need a shell
etc.
My favorite new one for the 83(+) is, "I found the game in the PRGM menu and hit enter, but now it just says prgm and the name of the game and it doesn't do anything." I kid you not.

But hey, I'm not sure you're one to point and laugh. The signal to noise ratio in these ticalc.org news post replies is horrible. :)
