AMS 2.08 Released
Posted by Eric on 19 August 2002, 07:10 GMT

TI has recently released AMS 2.08 for the TI-89 and the Voyage 200. The new version includes added features such as more trig commands and a novel idea TI is referring to as "clack functionality" (yes, kiddos, I believe that should be "clock"). Anyway, give it a try.

On another note, I've decided to officially retire from ticalc.org, due to massive workloads and such. It's been interesting, but three years is about long enough, anyway. We're currently in the process of deciding how to proceed, so please don't flood our mailboxes volunteering your help just yet, thanks.

Update (Eric): Ok, it appears that TI has recalled AMS 2.08 due to errors with the Black Graph Link cable and TI-Connect.

I have downloaded this version, and it looks very good. The only problem that I have seen so far is at school today it crashed. I managed to reset my clac by talking out the main batteries. I think it was because someone was playing jezzball (asm) on it too long.

Forget about clack...
Click on the link above, scroll to the bottom of the page, and you will see the words "... from the Free TI-89 Plus software ..."

TI-89+???

This is blatant and has been up as long as I have been giong to the page (about a year and a half ago was the first time I spotted it).

What... you've never heard of the TI-89 Plus? I have one at home, right next to my TI-86+ with Flash ROM, and my TI-85 SE...

I have had 2 problems with the screen on my TI-83+. First of all there is a white line running across the screen where no pixels will show up. Second, there is a large black splotch in the middle of the screen (it's not dirt because it's inside). I don't abuse my calculator either. What happened and what can I do to fix it?

I don't know. I think the white line is a defect in either the lcd controller or the soldering or the lcd (bummer).
If the black splotch is pixelated, it may be a defect in the lcd. (bummer again)
If the black splotch is pixelated, but not evenly black, I don't know.
If the black splotch has the white line running through it, your lcd and controller are acting up.

Is it just me, or does this AMS seem... unfinished??

about five times so far when I was unarchiving variables I got address errors. seems kind of fishy to me.

hey guys... it's been a lot longer than promised, but I've finally uploaded my TI-89 font editor... look back at the previous news item to read about it. hopefully it will be up in less than a week... but I doubt it highly.

Sorry guy, it's not for the 92+ (maybe the apps desktop didn't port well across screen size boundaries).

....
I managed to get it to work... I just renamed the .89u extension to .9xu, and used it as a VTI rom... and it worked as a 92+ OS.

ac

This is a little unrelated (sorry Ticalc.org Police) but is it worth getting a V200 if you don't have an 89?

I'm trying to decide: V200 or 89.

Thank you!

Annoying
Raven001  Account Info

Does anyone else find it EXTREMELY annoying that v2.08 boots to the Apps menu when turned on?

I like the clack functionality, but the clock and nifty icons are NOT worth having to hit "Home" every-time I want to do a calculation.

Or is there a way around this, while still keeping the Iconed-Apps menu?

TIA

"Autorun," available at the above link, will automatically exec a program when you turn on your calculator.

If you type autorun("DispHome") on the home screen, the TI-89 will automatically display the home screen instead of the apps desktop when turned on.

Clock is grayed out on TI-89 HW1.

When I installed the new AMS 2.08 and wanted to set the clock the function is grayed out in the About menu at the Home screen. I am using 89 HW1. Is there any problem with HW1? Please help, before I downgrade to 2.05 again.

Thank you.

Yes, there is a problem with hw1. it is missing a crystal that is in hw2. This has been said before, on the first page of comments. Hmm, perhaps we should call this 2.05.1 instead of 2.08, it seems so bad and useless.
