TiLP v5.00 Released
Posted by Eric on 25 February 2002, 21:36 GMT

Romain Lievin has released TiLP v5.00 stable, his popular link software for Windows, Linux and Mac. Version five includes support for the TI-73 and TI-83+ as well as full FLASH support for all calculators that support it. It's intended to be the final release of TiLP (after almost three years of development!), so check it out.

RAAAARGGGHHHHH!!!
Dammit, it's ABOUT TIME I got to post here...

This is lord_nightrose... due to unforeseen difficulties with my old account, I have absolutely no way to verify my other account. The most annoying part about it is that I can't LOG ON to CHANGE my information!! AAAGH!

This whole account verification thing was a HUGE mistake, in my opinion. Sure, it helps weed out the old, unused accounts, but it also does stuff like THIS to frequently used accounts.

Serves you right for using an email address that you can't use for life. Just get your own domain name and have it forward to you. *@mathjmendl.org and *@ti-89.org will be mine forever. w00t

I know what you're saying, Lord. My account was screwed up for ~6 months due to my putting in the wrong address. Is it impossible for you to obtian the email in your account? If it's just a matter of looking at what's listed, I could help you out.

Well, I have a plan.
I'm just going to keep this account. The only thing I used my old account for was suverys and postings; the file uploads are categorized by your name anyway, not your account. So, since that's the only *significat* (meow) thing I was worried about, I'll just keep this account.

Note to Magnus and crew: Please disregard my e-mail that said I wanted this account delete.
Please.
For the love of God.

eek eek, eek, eeeek eek eek.

I'd just like to say...the TI random integer generator isn't random at all!!! It's pre-programmed.

Well only quantum computers really make random data. But, thanks to our lovely friend Chaos Theory, it is dynamically instable and so most people won't notice that it isn't random, and it is close enough to random for most practical effects.

Uhh... I think most people already knew that, but thanks anyway:)

Of course... It's called a "pseudo-random number generator." Just reseed the number generator with a different value for a different set of numbers.

It's at least better than the "random number generator" on my MP3 disc player for the so-called Random mode. Whoever made that thing has NEVER heard of the word "reseed" and they apparently don't know what "random" means. :-)

That happens with windows media player all the time, it just goes back to the song you just heard.

BTW, if you play fast tunnel for ti82 long enough, it just repeats

What if you made the pseudo random number generator come up with two numbers at once, used one as the output number (randomly choose which one :), and the other to reseed the generator then repeat the process?

Guess what I just noticed? On the side of ticalc.org it says

Other sites
Be sure to check out these other recommended TI calculator sites:
Dimension TI
TI-CAS
TI-Net
TI-FR
» More TI web sites...

Dim-TI - major troubles.
TI-CAS - TI shut it down.
TI-Net - still up and running.
TI-FR - archives aren't working and site almost shut down.

heh... yeah
Notice on the hardware page, almost none of the links work.

Of course, when you have a site as big as this, keeping *everything* up-to-date could be consider anywhere from extremely difficult to impossible.

That's true, they can barely even keep up with the file archive queue.

They haven't been censoring things lately. We really need a moderation system, like on slashdot.org or kuro5hin.org

They need something like

if (indexOf("the bad words")){
don't post or something
}

They could probably get a good list of bad words to block, or subsitute bad words to block.
