Mega Man for the 86
Posted by Nick B. on 19 August 2001, 18:50 GMT

After nearly two years of work, Cullen Sauls has released a little game called "Mega Man" for the TI-86. The game is based upon Mega Man 2 for the old-school Nintendo, wherein you try to defeat the evil Dr. Wily and the eight robots he has created to stop you. The game features two levels of difficulty which you can determine by only having certain files on the calculator at one time, as well as an option for sound.

dawwww.... dave, did you have to spill the beans? oh well

i don't work on it much cuz i don't have any time to work on anything right now outside of work... but i do plan to slowly finish the new shell and megaman so i hope you guys can stick around for a couple more years :D

currently the size is about 5k but i'd expect it to fit in the 27k available mem. runs at about a decent 60 fps using my tilemap routines and sprite routines...

I'm a 15 year Megaman fan. I'm glad to see a new game for the graphing calculator even though I don't have a TI-86 and i just have a TI-85 & 89.

Anyone COULD make a kickass Megaman game for the 89/92...

You still have an 89. Get Space Monkey Quest or Phoenix, the best two games out there.

No, I only have a 82, 73, and I'm getting a 83+, and perhaps later on a 89.

Not like the 2 are even remotely related. Keep working on your 83 version of Mega Man. The 86 version is most likely NOT going to be ported to other systems. Cullen was already at a lack of space for graphics when he was making the 86 version. It also uses greyscale which is well...not very pretty on the 83/82.

a multipage app should give enough space on the TI-83 Plus to hold the game.

More problematic would be compensating for the different screen size, and display technics
