Universal OS v1.14 Released
Posted by Eric on 22 October 2000, 01:56 GMT

Hi, it's me again. First of all, many apologies for the lateness of this post. It wasn't my fault. Really!

Anyway, Julien Muchembled has released Universal OS v1.14. This kernel is fully compatible with DoorsOS II v0.98 and contains a few bugfixes. Get it here. Julien has also released other goodies such as MaxMem v2.11 and HW2Patch v2.21.

Thanks to tinews.net for reporting on this earlier.

Unrelated note: Due to popular demand we will now link to fileinfo pages whenever applicable.
Another completely unrelated note: Yeah, yeah, it's my birthday; thank you. you all can stop flooding me now ;).

Yeah, it is about time. I remember that being one of the first things that I noticed when I started regularly coming to this site.

I agree. I'm usually more interested in seeing the other programs an author has written than in e-mailing him.

True

And on the discusion boards I want to see the programs an author has written when clicking on the file and magnification glass. Such a list can sometimes say a lot about a poster.

That is why I now use my author profile for my URL.

Yeah, I've seen many people do this lately, but I usually like to link to my TI-89 page. Maybe there should be two magnifying glasses or something. I actually find it surprising that you can't find an author's files through the profiles. At least my TI-89 page contains my programs on it. =-)

Hey, it's my birthday too!
I'm 18 now....now I can't break the law as much or I might go to jail...
In other words, now I can't reverse engineer and tell people about it :~[

Our state governments need to reform the laws that are based on someone's age. They make no sense at all.

For example, here in Texas, 17-year-olds can get the death penalty. However, the jurors who give the sentence must be at least 18.

And imho, the fact that there are some people don't yet have the right to vote but can legally watch porno movies shows our country's misplaced priorities.

I could never imagine that of an USA state... that's really bad... here in South America the only problem is economical...and all problems that derives from it :-( . However, Uruguay is and will always be a perfect exception of that, being *even in most hard times* the Swiss of America. ^-^ (yes, that little country between Argentina and Brasil) :-)

Actually, studies have shown that people with economic problems have gotten the death penalty in large, disproportional amounts as compared to those that don't. Many of the people who get the death penalty have lousy, court appointed lawyers, and I even read an article talking about how a single lawyer in Texas represented a large number of people who got it. During one trial he didn't even call any of his own witnesses or cross examine some people! Dubya is pretty crazy.

I've read an article about the number of people that have gotten death penalty in USA in the last year(If I'm right), the highest number correspond to Texas state, with a lot(like 200)!!! I can't say nothing, we don't have death penalty here, and max penalty is 35 years in jail.

I don't think you can blame "Dubya" for that, since most of today's death row inmates were convicted when Ann Richards was governor. (Justice is s-l-o-w in the USA.)

Well it might be partly because of Ann Richards, but I don't think 'most' sounds right (although I admit, I don't have any statistics on it). W., I'd say, is a large factor in it, as he has been governing it for nearly six years. I'd have to agree with you about the speed of justice in the US.

You all suck. Happy birthday Eric. This program sucks. Universal OS is a RAM hogger, and the features that is possesses are not worth the space it takes up and the time it takes to download. Once again, you all SUCK!!!!!!!

This may be your opinion. But, be aware that other people might instead believe that programs which suck are things like "word processor" or "organizer" programs that perform their allegedfunctions much worse than the regular program editor does, and that the people who suck are the people who write such programs and also write highly inflated reviews of their own such programs.

Just wanted to let you know that there is more than one opinion on such issues.

Which is worse:
Writing great reviews of your own program in third person.

or

Writing bad reviews of your own program.

This guy must not have realized that people see who the reviewer is along with who the author is.

go to the page about his toolz program. Should be in the above link.

The program desription brags that it has assembly suboutines- sounds nice.

Then read through the files contained in the zip and are used in this package. He is distributing ztetris and Elements, and I believe that spread sheet program is in there (I do not remember that programs name off the top of my head)

This is just as bad.

Lol, I can't believe that he wrote reviews of his own programs. In my opinion, ticalc.org should remove his reviews from the reviews. It is not objective to review one's own programs (as I'm sure your point was) and I'm surprised that they even allowed them to be put in with the others. Maybe they just slipped through and no one noticed them. In any account, it defeats the whole purpose of having reviews of programs to have ones like that put in, and ones like that just shouldn't be there. I'd also have to agree with you about pointless programs that perform a function worse than the calculator itself. Aside from organizers, I've seen stuff like TI-BASIC factoring programs and equation solvers and the likes for calculators that can do those things on their own.

Lol. I personally use DoorsOS but if you really think something sucks there's not much you can gain from insulting it, especially when you haven't written a better version of it yourself. That's also a bit critical from someone whose entire website is as follows:

Index of /theforce5
Parent Directory
Apache/1.3.12 Server at members.nbci.com Port 80

haha, 1 line of code. Tertiary operators suck, though (makes nice unreadable code =P)

I could have done that, but I needed to keep it readable for the people who think C is just a letter of the alphabet.

If you planned on distributing the source, you would probably want to make it more readable, like:

if (yourOpinion(UOS)==good)
{
useProgram();
} else {
shutUp();
}

But, then again, not everyone knows C (and most that claim they do are thinking what is at the beach).

Anyhow, just my $0.02 worth of information.
Note to self: Must save pennies, and attempt to purchase $10.00 worth of goods at the convenience store! :^)

It's not ticalc's problem. HTML does not allow more than one space between characters. Extra spaces get reduced down to one character.

SUCKED!?
Cpt.Ginyu

Really? So with 782k you don't have room? What the hell is on your calc? I assume by this "problem" you have hardware 1, even still 512k still houses alot of room. Is your archive packed or something. Also how does everyone "suck"? Does expressing a view make one suck? To be honest Univesal OS Is the best thing that has happened to me since my hardware 1 was dropped (thank God I got that warranty extension) and I got a hardware 2. So if I suck because of my view so be it. I don't know why I waste time on your type

tassadar25 isn't entirely wrong in saying that Universal OS is a RAM hogger. My kernel make a copy, in RAM, of any program it launches.
