DoorsOS II v0.93 Released!
Posted by Eric on 10 February 2000, 07:36 GMT

Xavier Vassor and the Doors Team have released DoorsOS II v0.93 for the TI-89 and TI-92+. This new version breaks the infamous 8KB limit for programs on AMS 2.03. As usual, DoorsOS can be found in our archives. Once again, congratulations to the Doors Team!

Will this release let me run smq on the newest software flash from TI? I'm currently using DoorsOS II v0.92, and whenever i run smq, i get a screen that says LOAD on top, and a box that says FOLDERS which continously flashes, and I must take out the batteries to reset my calc.

Yes, smq does work with v0.93 (0.92 also). I had the same problem. If you wanna do it the easy way, you could just download the smqlib.89z file to your calc again, and that should reset the menu. The program is trying to access a folder that it can't (I believe that the Stat program messes it up). When that problem occured for me, I was away from my computer so I couldn't put smqlib back on. I played with the arrow keys until it eventually said smqlvl, then I hit enter and it works just fine :)

The problem is probably that you don't have smqlev on your calc. That load screen appears when there is no level selected.

i thought maybe i would be playing some asm games for a chance on my HW 2 AMS 2.03 but i guess i still cant. When i put doorsos on my calc it successfully loaded but it wont run, i know it only need minor adjustments becuase it was able to display "Can not find doors program file" when i pressed shift+on without installing the explorer. I guess us HW 2 2.03 people have to just wait for a newer and better version to come out...i would say that dooros rules but i havent gotten to try it yet!!

actually, all you have to do is type the name of the program with "()" after it, like you were running a Basic prog. I never install the explorer.

HW 2.0, AMS 2.03 fans, here is the deal. DoorsOS II v0.93 is the first OS that will actually work with HW 2.0 <sort of kinda work> (PLEASE prove me wrong) This is the first version that actually let me install the program, thank god for that. Out of all the games I have tried to use on my calc, (Blackjack, Jezzball, Phoenix, Tetris89, Asteriods, and Deathstar)the closest to comming to work is Blackjack, because I was able to play one round before the calc froze. What happens when I try to run a program (with the () after words,) the calc displays BUSY for about 5 seconds and then the screen goes blank. The only way to correct it is to take out the batteries. If anyone gets their HW2 calc to work PLEASE email me!! redhick5@yahoo.com, or ICQ me 28508215, or AOL IM me redhick5 And if anyone has any objections or comments please say them!

I was able to put doorsII .92 on my friend's hw2 calc; you probably just aren't using the "patcher" program found in the windows directory of the ticalc archives somewhere. The patcher "patches" programs to work with AMS 1.05.

so ur saying downgrade from AMS 2.03 to AMS 1.05 and then use doorsos .92 if u want to have doors on a hw 2 calc, ill try it but i think id rather just wait till doors comes out with a hw 2 compatible version

A friend of mine lent me his HW2, v2.03, to put some games and such on, but I have not been able to successfully install DoorsOS either. I ahve tried many different approaches and have yet to be successful. What always happens is, that I run doorsos, and then the doorspic comes up, and once i get out of that, it freezes at the home screen with a black bar across the top. Does ANYONE know of a way to get DoorsOS to work here? Or perhaps just a way to get some assembly games on this calc? Thanks.

Try the games creversi and cblaser. They work on my HW2 AMS 2.03 calc (they don't require shells and are under 8k)

You got it to load successfully? I can't even get it to load, let alone run. Man, some people have all the luck....

You guys are the greatest team for the TI-89. I am sooo glad that barrier is now broken! Can we run games that were for 1.0x and the libs for the 1.0x as well?

This is great.. been waiting for another release for along time, and its finally happened! I'll have to put it on my 92+ as soon as I get home.

I also have a question regarding my 89. For some reason it doesn't want to turn on anymore. I put brand new batteries in it, as well as replacing the Lithium battery in it. It turned on after that, so I turned it off, since I didn't need it at the time. Now, it won't turn on again. I haven't done anything to break it. Any idea on what could be causing the problems? I'm going to go buy some brand name batteries, I bought some generic ones... but incase that doesn't work, does anyone have any ideas, or any problems like this with their 89? A friend of mine had the same problem with his 85 a while back, so he trashed it and got a 86, but I paid too much money for this calculator, just to trash it. Thanks for any help...

If you can't get it to work, don't trash it. I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with your calc, but take it back to the store you got it from (hopefully with the recipt) and show them what is wrong with it. They should replace it.

It might be that the contrast is turned down enough that you can't see it. Try turning it on and then adjusting the contrast up ([diamond] +)

Don't take this in a bad way, I'm only try to help. Check the contrast setting. As dumb as this sounds, it could very well be the problem. Also, check to be sure you put your batteries in right. And, as a last test to see if the "on" button is just broke, insert a link cable into the port on your TI. If it turns on, your "on" button is probably damaged.

Did you try holding down ON and the left parenthisis while you put the batteries in? How about using a computer to calc link to jump start it? Reflash the ROM?
If all else fails, send the carcass to me and I'll use it for scrap parts =)

I figured it out.. it was those cheap rayovac batteries I bought. I went out and bought some Duracell and it turned right on. So don't buy rayovac for your calculator... their cheap!

Well, all I can say is, try a different brand of batteries. The only time that i've ever been able to fix a problem with loading stuff on my 89 was that the batteries were dead or screwed up. Also, make sure that there isn't any corroision on the connectors...that could hurt some things. Just a few things to check. BTW...if there is corrosion, just take an alcohol wipe, or a cottonball with rubbing alcohol on it, and swipe the connectors clean!
