Data Flowing Once Again: Announcing contact@ticalc.org
Posted by Nikky on 1 March 2010, 01:08 GMT

Here at ticalc.org we try to make the system trouble-free for authors, readers, and users. But as e-mail addresses change, systems break, or a process "forgets" to update, users need intervention to make everything work smoothly. Unfortunately, despite our long list of contact addresses, many of these have been left to acquire dust: e-mail has been unread and our users neglected.

This unresponsiveness is simply unacceptable, and today I am pleased to announce that we are now accepting e-mail from a central "catch-all" address: contact@ticalc.org. This address is intended to replace other contacts at ticalc.org. contact@ is a monitored address that is designed assist with all of our user concerns in a timely manner, and to triage requests and feedback to individual staff members as appropriate.

Furthermore, we are once again processing e-mail and requests sent to the following addresses: help@, contact@, featprog@, reviews@, accounts@, webmaster@, news@, and filearchive@. If you have sent in a request to one of these addresses in the past, resending your request to contact@ticalc.org is recommended to ensure we act upon your e-mail.

"Unfortunately, despite our long list of contact addresses"

So is that list of contact addresses going to get trimmed down to only the catch-all, to avoid confusion in the future? Nice to hear you guys are reading your mail now though. :)

Good idea. I sometimes had to resend my emails directly to a staff even thought the rules discourages it to have them read

Is that you? Are you the one?

You are alive! good news.

lol

seriously, thank you staff for sorting out the mail mess. I'm no longer really active, but I had to upload a fix for one of my old game and it was sad I could no longer reactivate my account.

WOW you're still around???

Nice to see you still visit from time to time

If you remember I am the author of Reuben Quest series, altough these are no longer on ticalc

But still nice to see some old faces again sometimes

And yeah I recommend keeping your email address up to date regulary on ticalc in case. Don't let an email address die then not update your ticalc.org acct with a new one, because you never know the day you will decide to return to release something again. There are people who haven't been active since 1999 who returned like 8 years later.

Yeah... that's what I remember. I didn't ever play however, since we aren't on the same platform.

What happened to those games?

I'm not sure but I think they wanted to wait a little bit before posting another news article, else if the front page is flooded, the exploit would go less noticed by people who don't follow the scene as much. I wouldn't be surprised if a feature came soon.

That's exactly why. It's rare to have so much news all at once, but it has to be revealed at a consistent pace or the first few articles get lost.

Right. ticalc.org has been infamous in recent years for being incredibly slothful with posting news, and because of this people have gotten used to this and now rarely check ticalc.org. We're gradually increasing the rate of new news items but still have to go slowly enough that people don't miss anything. It will probably be quite a while before a lot of visitors readjust to visiting the site more often.

True. After the TI-84 came out, there was some sort of craze but after compiling statistics of various TI forums, it seemed that in general, the spike of activity happened in 2006. Basically, it took over a year after the 84+ release. Of course maybe this activity increase is not linked, but I still think it will take a short while before people who visited the site less frequently starts doing so more often again.

I alerady notice a small increase in comments on news article, though.

File archives being updated at a more frequent rate than from 2006 to 2008 might help, too.
