Cool! Looks like the deadline got extended. Now I can leisurely work on something over the summer...

Also, a 16GB thumb drive WOULD be handy...

I agree, a 16 GB Flash Driver would be handy. I plan on entering this contest as well.

Wow...I would like one of those, as my 2GB pendrive is full and needs more room. I don't know if I can make a good enough platform game though!

Does a Smash Bros game count? That would help as I plan on making one this summer.

Sorry Omnimaga is mostly a TI-83+ oriented community. I think TI-Freakware is now more oriented toward 68k, though, so if they redo a contest like in 2006, maybe this time they will have a 68k category.

Talking about contests, I was anxiously waiting for zContest 2009 (on yAronet) to submit Illusiat 13: The Lost Chapter, but for some reasons they decided to not do a contest this year.

Eeems and Keith from UnSyntaxSoftware also started a programming contest 3 days after Omnimaga contest started and it's a puzzle game you have to make, but I think the deadline is in like two weeks. You can submit entries to both contest (puzzle platformers), though, with as condition that UnSS won't release any entry that are going to be submitted to Omnimaga contest to public on their forums until August 24th

little rude to budge up on Omnimaga's thunder, but whatever. I just haven't been able to bring myself up to program anything in the last month. too busy.

well I'm not actually trying to budge in to Omnimaga's contest (I am participating after all) I'm just correcting him on how long it is till it's over.

I don't think he is, but I wish we could go back in time. I would be really curious about how many programming contests would have started in the TI community in May if the Omnimaga one never happened. :-P

If you really think that people copied Omnimaga's idea, then you should take it as a compliment. Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

At any rate, maybe the commencement of the Omnimaga contest sparked something that people may have been thinking about doing for a long while.

No one is trying to take members away from Omnimaga, and no one is trying to take participants away. Not one other contest even received the same recognition by ticalc.org, so why complain?

Honestly, I would just be happy that the projected number of participants appears to be very high. Don't worry about what other people are doing, and just focus on doing what you're doing to make yourself better and more efficient.

Well I wasn'T too worried about other sites stealing members from our contest, especially considering the site is more active by far. I just found it kinda odd, especially since it happened before :P

To be fair, I think more contests might be helping more right now, because Summer is coming and many people are planning to leave until school restarts. More contests might actually keep some people still interested in coding during summer time.

well actually we were going to have a contest anyway, but we didn't expect another site to have one, we were thinking about not doing the contest, but I convinced Keith to carry on with it because it was kind of my brainchild

A little update: if you have under 6 posts on Omnimaga forums, you must now e-mail the entries to myself of Noahbaby94 instead of PMing them. The e-mail addresses are avaliable through the links in the news article or the Omnimaga front page. PM system was disabled for new members because of spambots sending viruses to every member on the forums

sorry i didnt word that properly, I mean on UTI it happened (some members clicked the link IIRC and it installed malware), plus I saw that happen on other forums and since Simplemachines isn't bot-proof either, this could happen to us too so I took precautions so our members aren't harmed in the future
