Those are some cool programs, but why aren't there any for the 83/84?

Because nobody released TI-84+ programs worth a feature from Dec 1st 2007 to Nov 31st 2008, altough I think they could have solved the issue by featuring old programs that should have been featured before, like xLIB, Contra 83 and Robot War for the TI-82.

Most worthy TI-83 programs are still under developpement and I don't expect them to come out before the end of 2009. Among that there is F-Zero 83+ (Omnimaga), Project M (Omnimaga), Zelda (Revsoft), BBC BASIC (MaxCoderz), Desolate in 8lv grayscale (MaxCoderz), Robot War 2 (United-TI), Celtic III (altough seeing xLIB never got featured I doubt Celtic stands a chance, considering it's an update to the discontinued xLIB project)

To give you an idea of how BS the featured programs system is, Bubble Bobble still doesn't have the green icon.

Wow it's a shame really. Bubble Bobble is one of the 83 game that deserves a feature the most on ticalc.org

Ti83 make movies, Ti89 make history!!!

It made front page, but I don't think it's eligible to win a POTY, because it got featured at least 100 times before and there are over 9000 Phoenix clones now

That kind of sucks for all us 83/84 users out there, an entire year and not a single featured program!

I kinda expected Ultima to win due to all the features in it and it has been ages since a RPG got featured, congrats to Ranman but also congrats to Lachprog for being featured

And finally congrats to TI-Freakware programming team for their 2nd POTY award in a row.

Off-topic: Seeing results were posted so late though (Feb is a record I'm sure x.x), why next year wouldn't this be taken as an advantage and have voting start in January instead of mid December so December programs of the same year can also participate instead of having them wait for next year? Just a suggestion

I wouldn't mind if they retroactively made IndestructoTank the POTY winner for the 83 category :)

I didn't expect it to get a feature considering that many better programs in years past have not been featured. But since it did get featured, I would rather have it be automatic POTY than have to compete against any of the programs that will be released this year especially if Spencer ever gets around to releasing Zelda.

Well I was surprised myself that IndestructoTank even got featured at all, considering it's from United-TI, because Ticalc.org used to boycott UTI, simply because multiple people sent ticalc.org news requests for the 2005 TI-BASIC contest. I believe multiple e-mails were sent to get Contra featured too. I don't think the author of UTI programs should have been punished for that, though, since there's no proof that the authors asked people to e-mail ticalc.

Sadly, at this rate of featured programs, it may be time to switch to POTD (Program Of The Decade). :-(

It seems that we'll be doing better this year: 3 featured programs by February vs. 2 for the entire year. :-)

POTM (program of the month) IIRC.
2008 was practically a dead year for ticalc, though. With the new archivers and posters, this year should be much better. Especially if all these awesome programs that have been in the works for so long finally get released.

There was originally a Program of the Week, but it didn't last long. Program of the Month was introduced shortly after POTW, and POTW was later dropped. But every time the POTM winners were announced, there were many complaints about the voting/categorization system being unfair in some way, even though many changes were tried. So POTM was eventually dropped completely, and then everyone complained about POTM no longer existing. :-)

People probably complained just for teh lulz (the usual) :P
