TI-Nspire Section Added to Archives
Posted by Michael on 17 December 2008, 03:27 GMT

In light of the programming abilities now supported in the latest TI-Nspire operating systems, we have added a TI-Nspire section to our archives and we now accept Nspire files.

Another improvement to the archives, besides the addition of a Nspire directory and the newly added divisions to the TI-83+ BASIC directories (especially games), would be to only allow games with at least one of the following in the future:
1) Readme
2) Install instructions inside the file description

And disallow .tig files because not everyone wants to have to install TI-Connect to send files TiLP cannot recognise to their calcs.

.tig files

A few days ago I looked at a couple of those .tig files and discovered (if I recall correctly) that they are actually simply ZIP files which contain the actual standard calculator files that you can send to the calc.

really? I wonder if i could just change the extension, because i remember in TiLP i would get an invalid file format, same for emulators and on TIGL it wouldn't be recognised either for me.

When I opened a .tig in a zip program I saw files with standard extensions (e.g. 8xp, 8xi, etc.), so I'm guessing you should just be able to rename them to .zip and extract them like a ZIP file and then send the files to the calculator from there.

I just noticed that TiLP2 v1.11 seems to support .tig files... it has an option to create them, and it also recognizes them, at least with my TI-89t.

While readmes are a very nice addition, I don't think they should be required.

You're right, as you can easily incorporate the read-me into a Notes (TM) pare with your soft ware.

About programming, the TI-Nspire has some VERY ADVANCED PROGRAMMING CAPABILITIES! However, these programs are not made by typing code. See some work by TI-Nspire masters available for download at http://lafacroft.xtreemhost.com. Some of these programs could NEVER be done in ANY TI-Basic and have graphics and speed like they do (excluding the 3-D program; it's a little slow on the hand-held).

That's pretty sweet. Do you plan on writing up a short tutorial of how you're doing this?

Don't worry; they're already uploaded! They're just uploaded to a different site: http://lafacroft.xtreemhost.com/ . I've been screenshotting many of the files.

Not that I know of, and if someone did, then there would be at least some news on some site about it. People made these programs I uploaded using just the standard TI-Nspire OS.

The TI-Nspire has very advanced but different programming capabilities than other models. Using Lists and Spreadsheet and Graphs and Geometry apps, some very advanced things can be made that can not be made in Basic on any other model.
