More TI-Nspire Details Released
Posted by Michael on 16 July 2007, 05:14 GMT

TI has published the guidebooks for the upcoming TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS calculators. They have also made the operating systems available for download.

Forgive my posting here, there isn't anywhere else appropriate that I can find.

Anyone know how to make TI-Connect (for 83+SE, 84+SE, and 89Ti) work under Windows Vista Home Premium with both direct USB as well as SilverLink? I contacted TI-cares and they just say use XP which isn't an option.

Any suggestions?

I'm afraid using XP _is_ the only option, especially if you have 64-bit Vista. There may be some super-hacky way to get it to work in 32-bit Vista, but there is no way to use an unsigned driver in 64-bit Vista (not like there IS a 64-bit driver from TI anyway).

<flamebait>Or, better idea, download, say, Ubuntu and use that? :)</flamebait>

Some people at MobiFiles got TiLP 2 to work on 64-bit Vista. I don't know why it let them install the unsigned driver with only a warning, but it did.

32 bit Vista.

How many months would that take to download on dial-up? Anyhow, I wouldn't be able to use it, I have a lot of Windows only software...

Why on earth are they not keeping up?? Don't they know all new PCs ship with Vista preinstalled and XP is no longer sold in the office stores?

I get the feeling TI doesn't want to continue sales?

I'll bet the Nspire software works right on Vista. They're just trying to get everyone to upgrade. Yay capitalism.

Not exactly :)

Perhaps the main reason is that developers at TI use Macs :)

Then why is their Mac software more quirky than their Windows software? :)

It's nicer but I have a hell of a time to get it to work most of the time. =/

Sorry, the url is messed up. It should now be corrected above. Or remove the spaces:

Just picked up my Nspire CAS yesterday. I happen to live very close to Copco - and $138.00 + tax let me "live the dream". Since this is my first graphing calculator, needless to say I'm overwhelmed. I will be attending college in the fall, and math and my aren't really friends (soon to change). Can't wait until publishers get some Nsprire specific books out there.
