TinyCarZ Released
Posted by Michael on 21 November 2006, 03:50 GMT

[Tiny CarZ] In slightly old news, Tiny CarZ for the 83+ was released a month ago. Similar to the featured Tiny Car from 2004 (and by the same author), Tiny CarZ adds link play and an AI.

People still develop for the 83+ series? I'm highly impressed.

There is more development for the 83 series than pretty much all other calculators put together..

Not so sure... There's still stuff being done for the 68k series too! Not as much as it used to, but the 83+ series also had much more momentum some time ago.

Maybe the 83+ isn't programmed more than all other calcs combined, but it is probably the most widely programmed.. I would say 2nd is the 89.. then it's kind of a tie for 3rd with all the rest.. 83+/89 are the top two definitely.. and I still think that 83+ beats out 89 if only by a fraction..

This may appear to be so because of all the BASIC programs that people just whip together and upload to the file archives. There are quite a few games for the 68k's, in beautiful grayscale.

not only that but it's the most compatible calc to develop for...program for 83+ will work on 83+, 83+SE, 84+, 84+SE, possibly the 83 emulator for the 89.

That makes one program for at least 4 different models of calc...and they're the most popular calcs too because of high schools...

I would have to disagree with this as I see the 83+, 83+SE, 84+, and 84+SE as all the same calculator though with different colors and amounts of memory.

On the other hand, programs for the 89 will generally work (or at least be easily ported) to the v200 and 92+, which are definitely different calculators than the 89.

Of course! If you think not, clearly you haven't been following Revsoft, Cemetech, and Maxcoderz in recent months.

Of course he knows what's going on. Have you forgotten he's the resident troll? YHBT. YHL. HAND.

There are many good projects brewing at the moment. Personally, I can't wait for Spencer's Zelda. That is almost definitely going to be the best calculator game ever for any calculator.

I'm looking forward to an update for MSD8X.

My drive works but won't auto-launch, I emailed the creator(sorry, forgot his name) about it and got a prompt response that it will be incorperated into the next version...and it seems to have fallen off the face of the planet...

The thing that's bad is they've all started at or around the same time, so while they are all in works, there appears to be no programming whatsoever going on.. It would be really neat if they were like all released on the same day or somethin..

On a side note, I think I read in here that someone was talking about the 83+ BASIC directory was split up.. shouldn't that qualify as News material? Just a suggestion, noticing the lack of news over the past few months..

They should at least put it in the Updates box on the right side of the main page. *poke poke*

Wow not many news items/surveys lately.. This game is pretty neat though.. The new Main Menu is awesome with the little animated car and all.. tracks are much cooler.. yea.. one thing that bugs me, though, is that if you hit a wall, your car is turned 180 degrees.. this bugs me, for one, because this isn't so in real life, and, for another, it's a pain to try to turn around and not lose half a lap in doing so..

I've got a workaround for the problem with hitting walls: don't run into walls! :P

This is a wonderful game - and it reminds me of Micro Machines. Congratulations on the feature!
