TI-84 Plus OS v2.41 Released
Posted by Michael on 7 May 2006, 04:47 GMT

TI has released version 2.41 of the TI-84 Plus operating system. As usual, there is a vague comment that tells us nothing about what changes are new to this version. It appears that the website has not been fully updated yet, as there are references to both 2.40 and 2.41 on the download page. If you are aware of any changes in this version, please post in the comments.

Why are so many people not in favor of OS 2.41?

Because no one likes the "features" added in 2.40, which are still contained in 2.41.

I Found the way to disable the "Push-to-Test" where the teachers Disable your calc. WE can disable it now.

If you want to download the program click on the url above. (It goes to detached solutions). The feature is added into a modified Omnicalc. Download it. Then go to the custom menu and click "Disable Push-to-Test"

I can't program assembly so I had RobbieMc program it for me. HE GETS THE CREDIT FOR MODIFING THE OMNICALC.

TO disable it it changes, when you hit [2nd][on], instead of turnnig of the calc it APDs. So that is how it is disabled.

IF the link above doesn't work...this is where you download that modified version of Omnicalc:
www.detachedsolutions.com/forum
Then go to "General in the Develpers section". Then go to Os2.41 pg1 and scroll to the bottom

that's what I'm waiting for...maybe I will just download it and re-update it if it screws up.

btw, if anyone needs the older OS -- 2.30, I can E-mail it to you. I keep an archive of all the older OS's that work good so if I want them, I can load them.

Ticalc should add older Operating Systems to its archive. Then we all wouldn't have to worry about updating our calculators

I agree. We should have a section with archived OS's for the calcs so that when this happens, we can just re-download them.

That's why I like this one website -- www.bay-wolf.com -- I can get older BIOS versions for my laptop if I have a problem. Now I archive them too though.

well, I went all out, took a risk, and here's the result...

after backing up data, updating the OS, activating the lockout, and removing the lockout...THE GROUPS STILL ERASED...then I downgraded the OS to 2.30 and restored the data

in omnicals you can just push [on][sto] and it goes into a lock down like in mirage and even when all AAA batteries are pulled it still prompts a password to turn on ;)

How can I send my OS 2.30 to my computer? Also how many teachers have actually asked to lock down your calcs without you telling them about it?

Usually my teacher only requires us to clear the RAM. That's why I always archive or put everything into groups before a test

our school doesn't care. if it's important (like standardized testing) they make us use school calcs so everyone has the exact same model with the exact same OS (2.30) and only the NavNet app and associated parts

btw, they are afraid to update from 2.30 on the school calcs...they don't want to mess up the navigators they just got.

I don't really care, if I need a program on a test, I write it and edit it as needed -- usually no more than 6-8 lines of code.

You're lucky. Our school makes us use one of those four function solar powered calcs.

Ok thanks. I'd like to keep an archive of my OS too. The TI-Connect install CD only came with OS 2.20, so I need a 2.30 just in case.
