Hawk v1.00 Released
Posted by Michael on 26 August 2005, 22:58 GMT

[Hawk]Hawk is a new shoot-em-up for the 68k calculators (89, 89 Titanium, 92+, and V200). Based upon "Star Hawk", Hawk has a simple and environmentally compelling reason to play: The goal is to eliminate all the enemies polluting your planet, accomplished through the usage of your various weapons. The screenshot pretty much explains the game.

downloading the 2.8meg file with dialup wasn't very fun.
graphics are great, but the scrolling background makes enemies and bullets hard to see, and i get dizzy fairly easily playing this game

Same here... even though I like it, I unfortunately had to get it out of my calc cuz it was like 65k by itself (program and gfx). Sorry if I sound pessimistic, but it is a bit big... :(

Extensive, nice looking, and detailed graphics require space. Not to mention, a lot of time drawing and perfecting them.

Very nice looking game!

Yeah... "Estimated Time Left: 23 min 32 sec"
I think that the screenshots take up most of the space- TI89 screenshot is 891KB, TI92+ screenshot is ~1.2MB!
Looks fun though.

Evidently someone needs to learn not to use MS Paint to save GIFs. Its optimization is terrible. 1.2 MB compared to 7 KB. That's nearly a 200x difference.

That, and the source. We need to think of the dial-up users and upload the source separately.

...or just leaving the screenshots out of the download would suffice as well.

Not to mention that there are like 100 bitmaps in the source directory...

An excellent game, if a little short. The grayscale is fantastic, though!

I agree, that grayscale is superb. Is it flickerless (wait, its a 68k nevermind)!

Screenshots are approved separately (slower) than the file itself. They'll show up... eventually.
