Solar Powered Cleaning Robot
Posted by Michael on 26 March 2005, 18:12 GMT

[Solar powered TI cleaning robot] A group of Belgium students participating in a solar robotics competition have built a cleaning robot based upon a TI-83 Plus. There's a picture and also a zip file containing a link to a video that shows the robot in action. As of yet, the group does not have a website for the robot but is reported to be working on one.

that is sweet I wish I would have thought to have a robot controlled by a calculator. right now though i and a fellow collegue are only working on wireless text messaging network. i know its already been done but it would be cool to redo it.

Let's not forget about http://smallrobot.com/ Granted, no solar panel or vacuum, but it's easy to program for (uses the Send( and Get( CBL/CBR commands).

wow this robot is really cool but the timing is a bit weird because i had a dream last night that i was controlling a robot except the crazily-modded ti83+ calculator was a wireless controller.

at what position in the news video is the feature on the cleaning robot located?

I believe that link now links to the newest news footage of that news brodcast. I checked all up and down between 20-35 and saw nothing.

I did see some tennis guy speaking english getting all pissed on a tennis court and totally making a fool of himself. o_O

Hey Matt

What do you mean exactly?

Mechanical-or electronically?

Anyway,, this is a prototype, please keep in mind that
this unit is build in only 4 weeks of time !

We did use some simple I/O like µswitches and everything, all part of the concept btw, but it had been also very easy for us to interface some infrared or whatever...hey this robot is even ready for interfacing a CMOS-cam or a speech unit...can you clarify your remark here please?
