Help Wanted
Posted by Morgan on 27 May 2004, 03:36 GMT

Last summer 2,476 programs were given screenshots, and this summer the plan is to get the rest of the assembly files complete. We had a great turnout last summer and we hope this summer will be the same. If you would like to help out this summer, any help would be put to use, even if you want to make screenshots for BASIC files. There are no rules and it's all done in your own time whenever you want. If you are willing to help e-mail me and I'll set you up with what you need to know.

I am also looking into the possibility of getting you guys community service hours (if you need them), however at the moment nothing is set in stone. I'll post updates. And finally I would like to point out that Brandon has uploaded a few level sets, the first in nearly 2 years, for Super Mario 86, the best program ever made :-)

Update (Joey): As suggested on the comment boards by Ben Cherry, it would be a great idea if people would rate each file after they make a screenshot, to make the rating system more effective.

Actually that was an update of a world of mine. The last new world was 1 year, 10 months, and 4 days ago. At least you didn;t say it wasn't the best program in the world :-)

i have an 86 and it is an awesome game, even though my only setback to it is that there is no "pause" screen and ti connect hates the 86...which makes me quite mad...

i think the best program in the world was "God of Jur"!!! j/k

"ti connect hates the 86"

I think that would be better revised as "ti hates one of its own creations, the 86"

Ti Connect has no knowledge of the 86, which sucks for those of us who use laptops, with no serial ports, except for a 25 pin port, for an external monitor.

That means if I want these new levels, I'm gonna have to dust off the old pc, and hope it still works.

Your laptop may have a 25-pin port, but I doubt it's for a monitor. The 25-pin port is a parallel port, for printers and such. The 15-pin port (it's probably blue) is for a monitor.

Actually, TI Connect for Macs read more calcs than for Windows...

Windows: TI-83,83+,83+SE,89,92+, and V200
Macs: all of the above plus TI-82,85,and 86

...which I think is an absolute mistake to make considering about a gazillion people use Windows and only 2% (just a guess) use Macs...

Does it matter? Windows is horrible anyway. Somebody should make a new OS for the computer. That would probably be a lot harder though...

hmmm, i still find it odd that although i uploaded jb2 twice, each time with a screenshot, the screenshot never showed up and it still remains without one. I also find that it remains my most heavily downloaded file despite lack of screenshotting curious....

Yeah, neither would I. I just started to program on this website a couple of days ago, so please help me!!! I can't seem to get any of my screenshots to come up. I guess it's because they are not in .gif format. Can anyone tell me how to change screenshots from the TI-Connect Screen Capture to .gif.

Thanks!!

not that youre doing it "wrong" but an easier way to screenshot (including animated) is calccapture with vti.

Yea, I've heard of people doing that, but (like I said in a reply above) I can't get any of the emulators that need ROM Images to work on my calculator. I have a TI-83+ SE with OS v1.16.

I do that, but I need to know something about that. How do you get rid of that little image that comes up every time the animated screenshots loop around? If you don't understand what I'm talking about, look at the screenshot on that link.

Hmm, I have seen that on wquite a few screenshots lately. If you haven't try using the hotkeys option and/or remove the CalcCapture window from behind the Rom image. I could also be that you don't have VTI to always stay on top. Set that and try it again with the hotkey and it shouldn't do that.

I know I have the hotkey set, but I'm not exactly conscious of how the other ones are set. I'm on a different computer now, so when I go back home in a few days I'll try that. Thanks!
