Rusty Wagner Releases Virtual TI v2.5 Beta 3
Posted by Nick on 29 October 1999, 03:24 GMT

Rusty Wagner has released yet another update to his incomprehensibly successful emulator, Virtual TI v2.5 Beta 3. This new version includes support for the parallel link(!), created by Mike Heckenbach. Thanks to Mike and Rusty for all their great contributions so far.

I've downloaded all the versions of Virtual TI and i have dumped the ROM image to the computer two times, each times, my 83-Plus says that only 505k of the 515k were sent, the calc doesn't do anything and I have to take out a battery to get it to start again, then it clears the ram. I open Virtual TI V2.5 beta 3 and the skin of my 83-Plus shows up, but I can't click or use any of the button equivalents that were listed in the Readme (Vti.txt). Thanks for any help.

Same thing with me. It got to 505 of 512 the 1st time. 2nd time it got to 509 of 512. The calc freezes and the VTI says its finished. Please help me.

In the last version of VTI, it got the entire 89 ROM image, however, the clickable bitmap of the 89 skin didn't work right, the actual button positions were shifted slightly down and to the right about 3 buttons. I hope this new version fixes that.

Your password don't work. Besides it's illegal to distribute Rom's.

I've never gotten more than 230K out of 256K on my 86. The new version doesn't give me a full dump either.

To avoid crashing the calc, try holding the on button. This works on my 86.

ROM Dump Problems

I used VTI 2.5 Beta 2 to dump all my ROMs and I didn't have a problem. I dumped TI-83 ROM 1.08, TI-83+ 1.03 and 1.12 (Same calc, one before and one after Flash update), TI-85 ROM 8.0 and 10.0, and TI-89 ROM 1.00 and 1.05 (Same as 83+) without ANY problems. When I updated to Beta 3 I got the same problem with the 83+ and all I had to do was restart VTI. I think I also deleted the save state file for it. I then had no problem with anything, and with all my ROMs I love the tabbed selection part. I just wish he'd hurry with the skin editor so that I can use scans of my calcs instead of the crappy skins (Wrong resolution, crooked, etc.) it provides.

Great emu! Is the sound bug on the 89 fixed yet, how bout the 89 savestate crash bug? My internet connection can't download a megabyte in a minute, nor 10 minutes for that matter, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Oh, yeah, this program is great. To bad it's for a PC. Microsoft bites donkey penis. hmm, I wonder if they'll remove my comment for that. It's true though, they really do. What the hell kind of program puts the cursor in the middle of the letter that you're trying to select from anyway? Wordª for PC's, that's what kind of program. (admittedly, I was bored and had no worth-while comment on this program, seeing as I can't run it without a pos PC.)

heh, i think he means, the more you eat the more you sleep.
On another note: The parallel link support might be a tad slow for some but hey it works :). If you goto the site and notice the debugger problem mentioned, you don't really need to worry about it , it was a problem that only came up when an obscure program code was used. hehe

the tabs are reall nice !!!!!!! and some menu items are easier to understand hehe

You can think whatever you like, but the fact remains that we have a sweet emulator and you don't. :)

nnnnnnnn. yeah, well you have to use it on a PC. besides, I actually could run it on my mac if I wanted to, but the interface program works just like windows, and I can't stand it. Windows bites.
