Playboy Sues ticalc.org for Usage of POTM Acronym
Posted by Nick & Phil on 6 September 1999, 06:08 GMT

Playboy has decided to file suit against ticalc.org recently for their continued usage of the Playmate of the Month (POTM) acronym, a spokesman for ticalc.org reported on Sunday.

According to Hugh Hefner, Playboy's Editor-in-Chief and founder, "We were fed up. This tarnishes the good name of our fine enterprise. We cannot stand to see [this acronym] used in such a bafflingly idiotic fashion."

Sources have confirmed that the sum of the lawsuit is approximately $8.29 with $530,238,301,399.38 in punitive damages and personal anguish from one Miss November.

This news is intended to be funny. We don't intend any harm towards Playboy in any way. This article assumes you have a sense of humor.

What is wrong with playboy? Who cares! Why dont they go play with their girls and boys, and stop bugging other people. What does a calculator have to do with porn? I think ticalc.org is a great TI website. It's the nicest one. It has huge archives that everybody wants, reviews, and for all calculators. Playboy on the other hand is just stuped. What is so cool about it?

Yeah, that really means a lot coming from a guy who ripped the code from Ti-Files for his own site. </sarcasm>
I understand why ticalc has the fake news, however, it's annoying to say the least because some people take it too seriously. It's only a joke...

The Hays Games Co has sued playboy claiming that playboy' nudes were originaly their grayscale pictures. It is theorized that playboy stole the images and colorized them. More on this later.

Hmm, I for one am saddened that (and yes I understand that its "yellow journalism" and meant to be humorous) ticalc.org would settle as to doing something like this-especially since it has the promise of doing it more often now. . .why sink to this level when you were considered the most profesional site? Now people (including me and other people who wrote on here, and I'm sure many more) have lost that respect that they held so high to you. . .I would like to thank you guys, however, that you put the 'hide fake news' option there; it was considerate of you to think of those people who were interested in calculators.

Actually we thought we were too stiff and it looked like we were a bunch of stuck up people who wrote gramatically correct news. This gives people a laugh and lets our other aspects show.

How do you define "professionalism" ? The Onion is professional, they thrive on similar bouts of humor, and they make lots of money.

I don't know if TICalc has that last trait, but I'm glad they can make me laugh.

When we decided fake news was a Good Thing, it was also decided that an option in the user's preferences to disable them would likewise be a Good Thing.

In fact, the "Hide Fake News" hyperlink right on the news article was my idea. I think that if someone doesn't like the fake news, he should disable them. There can be no reason to be upset at us for having fake news items--if you don't like them, they've been designed from the onset to be disabled if one should wish to do so.

It is intended to be a break from our usual formality and add some humor, and if you don't come here for humor, we hope we've accomodated you by allowing you to turn those red news items off and live in a nice, blue world.

I didn't think there would be anymore fake news for a long time. I would like to see a lot more fake news...Also it would be neat to show a fake program for the calculators. Take Screenshots of like JediKnight or half-life and use ti-gry Image and make an animation of it and display it as fake news.

Eh. Nobody seems to have read that article. Go and read it again. I tried to have the person who wrote it make it clear that I *will* continue on the staff doing programming and maintenance...
