[TI-83 Plus]

Texas Instruments has announced the TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. This is an upgradable calculator designed for high school and lower level university math and science courses. The TI-83 Plus includes all the features of the TI-83, and adds these features:

  • Flash ROM technology
  • 160K built-in Flash ROM (user data archive)
  • New applications developed by TI and other educational software developers

The TI-83 Plus is expected to cost about $5 or $10 more than the TI-83 and should be available this spring.

The 83+ is going to be coming out regardless of what we say.

I suggest that the subject is temporarily forgotten until the 83+ actually comes out.

Why are you here then if you don't care about calculators. This is a calculator web site and people are going to talk about calculators. And to answer your question NO I'm not a calculator or computer nerd.

83+?! Why?
TI-86 ROX

I just want everyone to know that although the 83+ sounds interesting, why on earth didn't TI do this to the 86 instead? It would've been much better. I love my 86, and am not going to give up using it... unless a plus model comes out, or if I don't see anymore new games and shells out for a while... I guess TI knows what they're doing... I have an 83 and a 92 (no plus) as well, and I sure as heck would trade in my 83 for an 83+ if TI would do so. Someone start a petition for a tradein service, not to mention a USB Graphlink cable...
OK, I admit it. I am the one that referred to myself as Anonymous86Dude , and totally flamed the Pentium II and TI-89. I'm sorry for all the trouble. But, I will soon get a TI-89 when I can... I so wish that TI would add Flash ROM to the 86!!!! Pleeeease!!

A formerly proud, and now humbled, owner of an iMac G3 and a TI-86 -P.S. Please forgive me for starting an irrelevant debate a few days ago.

I think TI didn't release the 83+ for peoples who already own a 83. I think they released it for newcomers to TI calcs.
Personaly i don't love my calc, i prefer girls! Kissing my calc baaaaaa! :->
About all this color stuff. I've been using Casio calcs for long time before a switched to TI... I had 4 Casio, 2 of them had colors (3 colors) but they were very very slow!... The Icon menu really sucks, there is no link cable supplied with it, the user manual is not well made ,in fact it is a really big shit!...
