Chip8 and SChip8 Emulation on the TI-85

Andreas Ess of Icarus Productions has released uChip8 v0.1 for Usgard, an emulator for Chip8 and SChip8 programs. Chip8 is an interpreter used in the late 70s and early 80s to program simple video games. SChip8 is an advanced version of Chip8 and was popular in the early 90s on the HP48. Included are a few games such as Brix, Invaders, Tetris, etc. and also a converter utility to convert Chip8 programs.

Go Andi! Keep devoting more of your time to the 8x series. We are always pleased to see your talents involved in the ti community, rather than gameboy. thanks again.

Hey, thanks a bunch! Well, I'm not sure how much time I can devote to anything at this time. It's the last year in school, and I'm really busy, furthremore, I started with Driver's Ed, too... (this takes at least 40 lessons in Austria + time for learning)
So I can't guarantee anything, sorry.

Come on Andreas, stop flogging a dead horse (the 85) and make some 86 games for us :).

Personally, I think this is pretty cool, and I would love to see it for the 86...

I really don't think we have to start a "my calc is better" war. Why discourage someone from making programs for any calculator? It is pointless. If he wants to make stuff for the 85, let him! I personally still use my 85 instead of my 86 for games. A lot of the 86 games are just ports from the 85 or some other 8x calc.

Still think the -85 makes a good gaming platform. *nods* On the other hand, I doubt anybody could argue that any 8x series has something that's not on the 92. (which I also got one of.)
Anybody know if TI made the 89 to have the interface to the functions like the 85s? I mean, the menu-driven Solver, for example, instead of the 92's command-line driven solver?

Hey, there is this neat prog thats been out for a while on the 86. It's called ashell, and it has 85 emulation. So quit your yappin'. You can use pretty much any 85 game on it (with a few exceptions, daedalus for example)and they work the same, if not better because of the 86's high contrast.

when I play these games they are either one quarter of the screen or way too slow. Is there a fix for this?
