Since I anyway wanted to tell you what I though about this game, I decided to write this review. First of all I wanted to try it out since the screenshots looked promising, and especially since it was just pure TI-Basic.

You can call it a bit slow, but for a TI-Basic program I was pleasantly surprised by its speed. In my opinion the game responded pretty fast to my key presses. There are definably missing features in the game, but knowing ahead it was just a demo, I found room enough to explore and enjoy myself. Also the monochrome sprites and special effects look just amazing. If there are any people hesitating to download this game just because of the lack of grayscale: Man, you really won't miss it!

I know that using giant matrices like a map can really slow down a program, so I'm still wondering how exactly you did it, since it's always snappy.

The only cons about this program I can give is that a Readme was missing, so I had to figure the controls myself out, but then again, they were pretty easy to discover. Also sometimes I did get a memory error, so the people trying this program should perhaps delete everything from their calculator first since it is also a bit heavy on files. But who am I to talk?

So TI-Basic lovers, go play this game! There's a very big chance this will stay a demo forever, but it really is something I think you should try. Congratulations to the author for making it!

Attention span: 6/10 catchy at first, but nothing to do
Controls: 8/10 slow but kinda responsive
Implementation: 5/10 insanely huge, good graphics though
Overall: 6/10 still in demo stages, may improve

I just noticed not a lot of BASIC games get reviews. But here's a nice spiffy game (demo actually) that shows good signs of being a nice game. The title is synonymous with great games. Yes folks, Zelda in BASIC.

Now, usually I go with ASM games and BASIC math and science progs, but this one is coming along nicely to break that trend. It just needs a few fix-me's.

For one thing, even though it is faster than most BASIC games this size, it still is slow, and the fact that the programmer (good job by the way) put so much detail into it kind of makes it slower. Overdetail for a BASIC game does exist, and such things include when you cut a bush with your sword. The bush getting cut gets animated, and slows down the entire game (demo) seriously. Even though it's a nice touch, it really isn't THAT necessary. If a bush getting cut slows the game (demo) down, however, one must imagine how an enemy would affect the speed. One more fix-me: where's the storyline? Since it resembles Zelda for the gb, I'm guessing its the same storyline. It also gets tiring to walk around and not kill anything with your spiffy sword or block anything with your dandy shield. This game (demo) also uses many, MANY files, and it's only a demo. I'd hate to see what happens when the storyline is implemented.

All in all, it is a nice game (demo) with pretty good graphics, even without gray scale, but it'd be nice for a storyline and something to do. But, if you feel the need to make your friends ooh and ahh at the thought of Zelda on a calculator, then this is the game (demo) for you.
