Paper Plane is yet another very graphical, and good, game for the TI-83+. It is basically a version of Falldown, but not so simple. Instead, you control a Paper Plane, as the name suggests, and control the angle that the plane falls at. Very addictive, and extremely fun and competitive with friends.

Speed: 8/10

Good speed

Gameplay: 9/10

Extremely fun!

Replay: 6/10

It eventually gets old.

Graphics: 6/10

Very good, with good speed, and low loading.

Resources: 9/10

Excellent for the graphics.

Overall: 7/10

Great game, worth at least a try.

“Paper Plane” is among the most enjoyable games I have played on a calculator. The basic premise of the game is to navigate a paper airplane around obstacle in a “Falldown”-like manner. Touch the walls or the obstacles and it is game over.

Graphics:
The graphics are very smooth and pleasing to the eye. I never strained to see where the obstacles were, and the airplane looks very much like a paper airplane. The transitions are nice, as well. The obstacles are very easily distinguishable so there is never a problem there.

Controls:
Controls are very simplistic and easy to use. You only use two buttons to navigate your plane: [Left] and [Right]. You may also invert the controls by pressing the up button. You may hold down either [Left] or [Right] and you will turn rapidly. I myself never used this function often, because it’s harder to maintain control of the plane. Button-smashing all the way. [DEL] rapidly exits the game back to your shell, which is almost a teacher-button, but do you really need one?

Gameplay:
This is what really draws you into the game. If you touch the walls or the obstacles, your game is over. Here’s the catch: the more your airplane is pointed downward, the faster it falls. Turn the airplane more horizontally, and it slows down. However, more points are awarded for flying vertically. Each “go” is brief; it can take a maximum of about a minute I’d say. There are two modes: Classic and Random. Classic is a set map that provides a good deal of challenge. Random, obviously, randomly places blocks across the screen for you to fly around; a lot easier than Classic, but fun nonetheless.

Memory:
I have no problem fitting this game onto my TI-84+ SE, but nonetheless, it is a tiny game, weighing in at just 2685B. Better yet, it runs straight from the archive with no problem, so it doesn’t eat your precious RAM.

Features:
The game has a nice menu with a little splash screen. It features a high score menu that displays the top scores in Classic and Random. You may enter your entire name. However, it only displays the best score. Maybe top three or top five would have been nice additions.

Bugs/Problems:
There is one bug in game, however. In both Classic and Random, at about 600 points, you hit a solid wall that stretches across the entire screen, which won’t let you pass. That restricts replay value, but makes you try to fly straight through most of the course.

Graphics: 8
Graphics are perfect for the game and allow for a smooth speed. The sprite change is very realistic.

Fun/Addiction: 10
I have never played a game as addicting as this one. This game is best played with friends, competing for highest score. I have played this game for several hours strait, a first for any game, especially on a calc!

Replay: 10
Never gets old!

Memory size/speed: 10
Very small and runs great even on a standard 83+.

Controls: 10
The controls are easy to use, and even allows you to invert them for more of a challenge.

Problems/Bugs:

No matter what you do, you will always come to a solid wall on both “Classic” and “Random,” so in order to achieve highest score, you must keep your plane as vertical as possible to max out your score.

“Paper Airplane” is a very addicting game, especially when you compete with friends trying to beat each other's score. The game has two modes of play: “Classic” and “Random.”

Overall rating: 48/50 minus the bugs!

Controls 10/10
The controls are great. The plane turns whenever you push an arrow key, and the controls are very easy to use. The further the plane tilts to one side, the slower it will fall, but the faster it will move horizontally.

Gameplay 8/10
While the gameplay is nearly flawless, there are a few annoying glitches that somewhat hamper the fun. For example, whenever you reach 600 or so during “Random,” there is an impassable wall all the way across the screen. This makes “Random” mode easy and pointless. Also, you cannot enter in a name for high scores.

Total 10/10
Despite the annoying bug in “Random,” “Paper Plane” is still very fun. I highly recommend it as a download, and it will bring you and your friends many blissful hours through math class.

“Paper Plane” is my favorite game for the TI-83+. I am always playing it during my Algebra class, and even have my friends playing it now. I have no idea how this happened, but someday, the controls got all mixed up. If you push left, it went right, and if you push right, it went left. I thought this was cool, and then it went away. If this is a bug, please do not fix it because I, and my brother, like this feature. The graphics in this game are great. I give them a 7/10. The gameplay is so awesome! It is very addictive, also. I give it a 10/10.

“Paper Plane” is such an awesome game. You should download it right now and stop reading this.

My overall rating: 10/10!

“Paper Plane” is one of the best games I have ever played. It is very well programmed with very simple controls and great score and high score display. I’m glad the programmer included “Classic” (the same map every time) and “Random” (random maps) modes, I love playing both. This is a game we've all been waiting for.

Display: Great sprite routines.

I jumped at the chance to download “Paper Plane,” being a big fan of the game “Wario Ware Inc.” for the Game Boy Advance; this program is based on a mini-game in said game. The premise for “Paper Plane” is fairly simple: you control a paper plane, and must dodge platforms as you glide forever downward. The difference between this and “Falldown” is that the speed at which you fall depends on your angle. If you're pointed straight down, you'll plummet faster than if you're pointed horizontally. “Random” mode, which is slightly easier than “Classic,” produces a series of rows of platforms for you to dodge; unfortunately the game seems to come to a screeching halt right around the time you get 600 or so points, since you come up against a solid wall of platforms. The secret to improving your score, then, is to stay at a sharp angle and fly through as fast as you can, since the faster you fly, the quicker your score increases. “Classic” mode, which provides a single (yet challenging!) level for you to conquer, starts off at a nice easy pace, but soon the screen is clogged with platforms and expert navigational skills are required to squeeze through tiny gaps. Unfortunately, but expectedly, this mode eventually also ends with a solid impassable row of platforms.

“Paper Plane,” which adds an innovative new approach to the “Falldown” genre, should exist on every calculator. I give it a well-deserved 10 out of 10.

“Paper Plane” is clearly a "how long can you last" game. In this game, you have to guide a paper airplane (hence the name) down through a maze of walls, which you may not touch. Basically, I thought "Yet another cheap ‘Falldown’ copy", but this is actually different from “Falldown.”
------------------------------------------------------------
Two modes of play (“Classic” and “Random”) make this game a bit versatile. “Classic” is always following the same map, while “Random” randomly generates a map in which you can guide your paper airplane. There is also a high score for both types.

Options: 8.5/10
------------------------------------------------------------
The game itself is fast-paced. The airplane runs down the maze very swiftly. The controls are a bit harder to understand. The plane moves down at a standard speed, while you control its direction rather than moving the plane directly. This way of controlling is harder to understand, but definitely worth it.
Gameplay: 9/10
------------------------------------------------------------
The graphics can be described in one word: great! The paper airplane really looks like its real-life model. The walls are not so realistic, but realistic enough for the game, and look fine.
Graphics: 9/10
------------------------------------------------------------
Overall, I give “Paper Plane” a 9/10. It is a great game and a must download!
