GENERAL STATS

Graphics: 10/10 Same as original

Gameplay: 5/10 Lacks too much from original

Concept: 10/10 Mario is Mario is Mario

Memory: 10/10 Think of it as a game that you can play when you have just a few minutes of study hall or lunch left!

Game Value: 7/10 Not bad when you think about it

COMMENTS

This game contains the first three levels of “Mario Land” for the original Game Boy. Graphics-wise, they are exactly alike. However, a few game concepts have been left out. A score counter for example. Although you see score when you beat an enemy, it's not counted- it's just added for show. Also, there is no point in trying to get to the top door at the end of the levels- there is no bonus stage. But with three levels, what would be the point?

This is a really nice port of the Gameboy game of Mario. The first three levels of play are almost exactly the same. The sad part is, it is not finished; and sadly it is not going to be. The gameplay is very smooth and fast. All the lovable enemies are there for you to stomp on and use as weapons against the others. The gameplay is true to that of the original. However, it is still fun to have, even if you don't plan to keep it. You should download it and play through it, especially if you have played the Gameboy version. It is a nice look back.
