greyscale?
how many shades of grey have you gotten to display on a ti-83 plus?
does any one have a program to create greyscale pictures on a computer and a program that can read them and display them on a ti-83 plus?

i have seen a program that can do flickery 8 level greyscale, but i forgot wich.
there is also a four level greyscale picture maker called rigview(rotation interlaced grayscale)
and that one barely flickers so i'd say that one is the best.

Because I like to help people learn programming and stuff, I have setup a few yahoo groups where people can learn from me/eachother, share files/programs, post messages, etc. - Trust me, I am among the best, so I think it would be very beneficial.

I am very willing to teach people everything I know whenever I have free time (I like to work on a one-to-one basis). Check out my groups if you are at all interested or curious.

Below are the web addresses for my groups (CAREFUL, I had to put a space after each slash, so if you copy and paste, delete the spaces):

http:// groups.yahoo.com/ group/ TICALC101 - deals with ticalcs and stuff

http:// groups.yahoo.com/ group/ PROGRAMMING101 - deals with programming concepts, applications, and graphics in general

I have created a program in basic and was wondering if there is a way to convert it asm. The program is probably to big to convert by hand though because scrolling with alpha lock on it takes almost 90 seconds

I don't know iof a BASIC-to-ASM converter program/whatever, but I would really like to know if there is one out there. Also, I can beat your '90 seconds' scroll time. Try making Super Smash Bros. [N64 style] for the 83+. 18,000 bytes total, >2 minutes 15 secs.

I am doing a program for my pre calc class on rotation of axis. How would I go about creating a program that would rotate the axis on a graph? Any ideas?

All I can think of right now is to use parametric graphing mode.

If what I'm understanding from your post, you should try looking up graph3 (cubed), it's an application for the calc that can show 3d graphs and rotates with the arrow keys, look it up in the ticalc.org archives.

To put a function or value in the "y=" do this:
"[String goes here]" [STO->] [VARS] [->] [1]
Here you should see a list of Y1 through Y0, just store your string in one of these variables then, on the next line of the program put:
DispGraph
Now it will graph as if you typed your string in the "y=" by hand

Hello, I just bought a brand new TI-89T calculator, and it is PERFECT except for one thing.... I miss my Scitools app from my 83+. This is such a big problem for me that i'm actually considering carrying both of them around just so I can do sigfigs and unit conversions. There's not a whole lot of software like that (and of that quality) for the 89 yet. If I had SciTools on my 89T it would be PERFECT. So....

How hard would it be to port SciTools to the 89T?

Is there anyone out there who would do it, or teach me how to do it (if it can be done w/ little experience)?

If you want to turn the calculator off, use an asm sub rutiene such as Zbasic, Zbasic also sets the contrast.

I have a small ASM program that lightens the screen, without the contrast being affected. However, when the calc is turned off, and on again, the screen returns to normal.
This is only for the ti-83+
