  • DOWNLOADING A ROM IMAGE

    An emulator is useless without a ROM (Read Only Memory) image, which contains the software you use to operate the calculator. It's illegal to distribute these ROM image files; you must copy the ROM from your calculator using a link cable. See our Linking section for link cable and link software information.

    Actually downloading a ROM image is tricky, but newer emulator software makes the process easier. Below are instructions for obtaining a ROM from each calculator.

    IMPORTANT: Do not ask us, or anyone else, for ROM images. It is illegal to distribute them. The only way to legally obtain a ROM image is to download it from your calculator using the procedures below.

    DOWNLOADING A TI-82 ROM IMAGE

    If you have a TI-Graph Link and DOS or Windows:

    1. Download and unzip romdump2.zip.
    2. Install Ash (ash.zip) on your TI-82.
    3. Send rom82.82p (included with romdump2.zip) to your TI-82.
    4. Link your TI-82 to your computer.
    5. Run romdump.exe (included with romdump2.zip) on your computer.
    6. Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-82's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer.

    If you have a homemade serial link and DOS or Windows:

    1. Download and unzip romdump2.zip.
    2. Download and unzip getrom8x.zip.
    3. Install Ash (ash.zip) on your TI-82.
    4. Send rom82.82p (included with romdump2.zip) to your TI-82.
    5. Link your TI-82 to your computer.
    6. Read readme.txt (included with getrom8x.zip) for information on how to run getrom8x.exe.
    7. Run getrom8x.exe (included with getrom8x.zip) on your computer.
    8. Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-82's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer.

    If you have a homemade parallel link and DOS or Windows:

    1. Download and unzip romdump2.zip.
    2. Download and unzip dumpxp.zip.
    3. Install Ash (ash.zip) on your TI-82.
    4. Send rom82.82p (included with romdump2.zip) to your TI-82.
    5. Link your TI-82 to your computer.
    6. Read readme.txt (included with dumpxp.zip) for information on how to run dumpxp.exe.
    7. Run dumpxp.exe (included with dumpxp.zip) on your computer.
    8. Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-82's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer.

    The correct file size for a TI-82 ROM image is 131,072 bytes.

    DOWNLOADING A TI-83 ROM IMAGE

    If you have a TI-Graph Link and DOS or Windows:

    1. Download and unzip romdump2.zip.
    2. Send rom83.83p (included with romdump2.zip) to your TI-83.
    3. Link your TI-83 to your computer.
    4. Run romdump.exe (included with romdump2.zip) on your computer.
    5. Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-83's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer.

    If you have a TI-Graph Link and DOS or Windows:

    2. Install ZShell (zshell.zip) on your TI-85.
    3. Send rom85.85s (included with romdump2.zip) to your TI-85.
    4. Link your TI-85 to your computer.
    5. Run romdump.exe (included with romdump2.zip) on your computer.
    6. Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-85's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer.

    If you have a homemade serial link and DOS or Windows:

    1. Download and unzip romdump2.zip.

    DOWNLOADING A TI-89 ROM IMAGE

    If you have a TI-Graph Link or homemade serial link and Windows:

    1. Download and unzip Virtual TI (vti.zip).
    2. Link your TI-89 to your computer.
    3. Run vti.exe (included with vti.zip) and use its ROM dumper to copy your TI-89's ROM to a file on your computer.

    As an alternative, you may download a TI-89 ROM image from Texas Instruments' TI-89 FLASH Downloads page. Keep in mind that it is illegal to use a TI-89 ROM image unless you actually own a TI-89.

    The correct file size for a TI-89 ROM image is 1,124,683 bytes.

    DOWNLOADING A TI-92 ROM IMAGE

    If you have a TI-Graph Link and Windows:

    1. Download and unzip ti92dump.zip.
    2. Install Fargo II (fargo-0.2.7.1.zip) on your TI-92.
    3. Send ti92dump.92p (included with ti92dump.zip) to your TI-92.
    4. Link your TI-92 to your computer.
    5. Read TI92 Dump.doc (included with ti92dump.zip) for information on how to run ti92dump.exe.
    6. Run ti92dump.exe (included with ti92dump.zip) on your computer.
    7. Run the ROM dumper on your calculator. Your TI-92's ROM will be dumped to a file on your computer.

    The correct file size for a TI-92 ROM image is 1,048,576 bytes.

    DOWNLOADING A TI-92 PLUS ROM IMAGE

    If you have a TI-Graph Link or homemade serial link and Windows:

    1. Download and unzip Virtual TI (vti.zip).
    2. Link your TI-92 Plus to your computer.
    3. Run vti.exe (included with vti.zip) and use its ROM dumper to copy your TI-92 Plus's ROM to a file on your computer.

    As an alternative, you may download a TI-92 Plus ROM image from Texas Instruments' TI-92 Plus FLASH Downloads page. Keep in mind that it is illegal to use a TI-92 Plus ROM image unless you actually own a TI-92 Plus.

    The correct file size for a TI-92 Plus ROM image is 1,474,247 bytes.
