msd8x has it hands down. There is just nothing better. it opens up a whole new world of possibilities...including storage of unlimited number of programs...

It has my vote and I think it should have everyone's vote. It's the most usefull and most innovative program so far...

I can tell how much you like it from the number of posts praising it on just this page. ;-) (not a bad thing)

I doubt anyone could deny it's one of the greatest creations so-far for the calculator...it allows unlimited memory - run out and you can buy more very cheap

And how many thumbdrives could you buy for that...

Let's just start with one: 256MB for $20...that's a bit more than 200 times the memory for just under 1/5 the cost of a calculator.

It was a hard decission for me. It was between DAWG and msd8x. I decided to go with msd8x because you can send DAWG to your calculator through msd8x (i think). Most of the other programs I haven't even downloaded.

someone correct me if I'm mistake --

I don't think you can send or run apps through msd8x, only programs/vars. I still think msd8x is the best because it opens up a whole new world of possibilities with unlimited storage.

Correct. There's that whole OS/app validation thing we'd have to deal with.

easy solution: download every app you might want to use and put it in archive, then use msd8x and ram to handle the program storage

although it would be cool to flash a newer os with it...or replace the os from it...that would make the link cord obsolete(sp?)

RealSound is great! It is almost as close as you can get to using calc as an mp3 player. If the flash drive support gets more work...the calc might actually become a music player! It sounds good, only problem is the volume, but then again...it is a link port.

Lol, I voted for Tiny Carz. I can't make a really good judgement since I don't download games onto my calculator.

RealSound + White and Nerdy = 42, aka OMG-Pwnage

You can increase the volume with Windows Sound Recorder (on windows only obviously, but there should be other built-in alternatives on other OSs)

For *nix systems, there's sox (Sound eXchange: universal sound sample translator). Of course, you can do so much more than just change the volume with it.

There's that too. Audacity has an easy-to-use (relatively) interface for altering sounds. I had a heck of a time figuring out some mouse button/key combos and other stuff, but I like it now that I "get" it.

Audacity is also available for Windows.

I've got a fix for that:

get a small project box and build a mini-amplifier that can plug into the link (maybe use ti's cord) and have a volume control on it.

Theory:
box containing amplification circuit (and battery)
mini plug for calc on one end
headset plug on other end
volume control + on-off switch somewhere in middle

Practice(sp?):
Can the circuit be built small enough? dunno.
Can it be done without burning out anything? dunno.
How? dunno.

It definitely can and has been done, I've even seen plans in the hardware section of the archives for an in-calc amplifier (photos too).

I voted Metroid. It was one of the best games for its era, not to mention the calcs.

Me too, it looks like a fun game that truly pushed the limits of the language + platform :)
