Thats a stupid argument. Thats only syntax! It is perfectly possible to =
make an assembler for intel with [to],[from] if one wants. If you want =
to argument for 68k (which I also like very much) argument for the =
memorymodel, the abcense of segments, or the nice adressingmodes instead =
:)

If you want lowlevel information about the linkport, (how to control it =
without using the ti protocol for example) then you can find info on my =
page, http://alh.dhs.org/ti89/ in the document J89hw.txt and 89hw.txt.
(J89hw.txt is the best in my oppinion.)
