Indeed, I have a friend whose calc stores enough power in the memory
supply capacitors to keep the memory good for several hours.  Sucks when
it crashes though.  If this ever happens to someone (won't recover, even
w/ backup removed), I've found that you can short the backup battery
terminals and the charge will dissipate, so you can get your calc going
again...
