This is a really good idea.  But has anyone ever thought about taking it a
step further:  integrating it with a shell?  The running would be the
decompress and run mode.  Then it could "write back" the program by
compressing it and writting it back.  Maybe mark compressed programs in a
certain way so they can't be run normally.
