A85: Absolute Newbie Questions

I've read all the FAQ's and .DOC's and I'm still very confused. Can
someone help me with the following (probably really dumb) questions:

**From ZSHELL.DOC:**

**1) Transfer all of the data on your calculator to a group file on
     the computer.**

Is this the same as a complete memory backup, or is it a
"select all" selective backup?

**2) Transfer the ZShell backup file to your calculator.**

What is "the ZShell backup file"? ZSHELL.85B?

**3) Transfer the group file back to your calculator. Don't
overwrite any variables from the ZShell backup.**

How do I know what the ZShell backup variables are?

**In order to turn your assembled binary code into an .85S, all you
have to do is run it through STRING85.COM.**

Once I have the .85S file, how do I get it on the TI-85 (assuming I
have the cable and LINK85.EXE in place)? Once it's on the TI-85, can
ZShell find it or do I need to tell ZShell about its existence?

Regarding the parallel cable, I note it's connected to ground, [D0,
and D1 from the PC] or [Paper End, and Select to the PC]. Does anyone
know how the two data lines function...for instance is one a clock for
the other? Any transmission protocol info available?

Thanks for any help getting me started...

Steve
