TI Connect v1.2
Posted by Michael on 19 February 2003, 04:22 GMT

Texas Instruments has released TI Connect v1.2. Although it adds minor features such as enhanced calculator operating system installation and app upgrading, the major update is that the USB cable now works on Windows XP! That incompatibility has been a source of complaints in the TI Discussion Groups for some time.

Download it here.

So, baiscally, if I have 1.1, and 98, I don't need to upgrage. Not to say that I use ticonnect. I only have it to use study cards.

If you see no problems, then don't upgrade. I see multiple problems with TI Connect and Windows XP Pro, so I use TiLP. I haven't tried to use that with studycards though--i wrote my own program that essentially does the same thing.

In my XP Home, the software wouldn't even run at all. BUT, I was able to get around that by choosing the file I want to send to the calculator and "Send to" then TI-Device. This did the job.

Well, even though everyone says it's a waste of time, I have 98 and will upgrade... is it any faster than the old version?

I guess it depends on the type of graph link you are using and the speed of your computer, and the amount of attention your computer is giving to the software. It probably is the same.

This is good because I'm about to have Windows XP. One god question: Why are file updates so selective? I have nearly 30 files waiting and none of them are useless. Plenty more are on the way, and make all my other projects look 'Pong'ish. The new TI Connect software is a major impovement. I just tested all possible options and they work fine.

It's because there's LOTS of files in the pending queue. If you go to check, you'll notice that there's probably over 1100. Ticalc is working on hiring new archivers so the files can be uploaded.

I'm getting a bit impatient myself. It's really been a while. Only the admins know the best solution, but whatever it is it really ought to be done soon. Unfortunately it seems as if as far as math goes all they're going to update are those forsaken formula programs. ;)

It seems ti has released ams 2.08 again. Follow link at the side to download. Yes this page says 2.05.

forgot to say to remove spaces.

Also I tested:

prgm
local x
fill 0,x
endprgm

and it still crashes the calc.

Even with CP? Maybe you have a different ROM version than the other guy. Yours is 2.05?

Who is the other guy? I am the one who mentioned this bug in the Command Post news item.

No Command Post was not installed. I was at school, so I downloaded the rom and then vti to check for this bug.

Well, what do you know! Apparently 2.08 (2002) and 2.08 (2003) are literally identical. There are no differences whatsoever between the two, according to a byte-by-byte comparison I did in UltraEdit (yay hex editing!). So I'm guessing the reason they released it is because TI-Connect 1.2 fixed the timing bug.

if they weren't identical they would release it as 2.09

Does this version fix the error when you send some Ion and MirageOS things to the calc, it says "Transfer Failed. A retry maybe successful" even though it obviously never is. I got that error when I was beta testing the first versions of Phantom Star. Does this version fix that really annoying error? I never got that error with the serial, but always with the USB.

Does anyone suggest that I get this? I already have TI-Connect 1.1 and I never use it. If I were to get new linking software, I'd probably get Tilp... from what everybody says, it's better.
