ticalc.org reaches 20,000 files
Posted by Magnus on 11 May 2002, 15:56 GMT

Those of you who've been with us a while, know we love statistics. And it's time for yet another record breaking.

On thursday May 9th, 2002 at 20:54:06 GMT file number 20,000 was added. This file was Countdown Timer for the TI-83. Congratulations to Kerm Martian for uploading this file - no prize is awarded, though.

Yes, we are still adding files, even though pending has once again slid up to almost 500 files. We'll get it down again, eventually.

First post! :)
It is awesome that your archives have 20,000 files. It could be poosible to say that ticalc.org is one of the best calc website out there!!!

Just one drawback:

There's so many files, that you have a hard time telling the good ones apart from the bad ones :-)

Hey, only basic games are crap, there are a lot of helpful math programs out there that were written in basic.

That's great!

But I think you have a virus. I just received the following email:

From filearchive Sat May 11 06:59:45 2002
From: "filearchive" <filearchive@ticalc.org.>
To: ***my_email_address***
Subject: A special powful tool

This is a powful tool
I wish you would enjoy it.

Then an online scan of the attachment:

Scan Result
Name of File: Wxg.pif
Type of File: application/octet-stream
Scan Result: Virus W32.Klez.H@mm found. File NOT cleaned.

This attachment has a virus that may infect your computer. It cannot be cleaned.
We recommend that you DO NOT download this attachment.

There is of course a small chance that the headers were faked. It was routed through aarup-design.dk and smtp.digiweb2.dk. Do any of the archive people live in Denmark?

i continue to get virus' and possibly the one you got in my email... the subject is always very interesting, like it'll have something to do with calc.org sometimes and i've never emailed calc.org, so i suspect someone from the TI community is sending this to people he (or SHE) dislikes... yeah, i think i made a sexist remark on the previous poll or something.

Nope. America, Canada, and Sweden. Not Denmark.

So I'm not the only one getting that virus. Maybe someone has filearchives in their address book and they accidentally opened the virus .... Symantec's website says something about that.

Yep, Klez sends copies of itself to everybody in your address book, using an address stolen from someone in said book.

Yes. It's a well-known fact that e^(i*pi) equals -1. Didn't you know that?

Frankly, I don't see any correlation between i and pi, other than conversions from rectangular to polar coordinates.

What does i or pi have to do with this? I thought this was about the file archives.

That is good publicity for the author of the 20,000 file because i bet people downloaded that program because it was on the news post. 20,000 files is very impressive! My site only has 61 files, thought they are pretty good like my flightsimulator. Congragulations ticalc.org administrators for this great site!!!

Yea, me 2. I submitted some files a few weeks ago and I'm still waiting for them to be uploaded. But, ticalc.org has gotten in gear the past day or 2 and are now uploading files.
