TIMM v1.4.72 Released
Posted by Eric on 16 May 2001, 04:58 GMT

Frank Schoep and Sherman Cahal have released a sizeable update to TItanium MultiMedia, their popular movie-making program (You may have noticed that it was released a few days ago, except that the zip file was corrupted-it's fixed now). What's new here that deserves yet another mention, you ask? Well, it now supports the TI-89 and TI-92+! It also supports different screen sizes, file sizes, formats, and a whole bunch more. Go check it out, yo.

TIMM v1.4.72 Awesome Program

Congrats to the author. This is a very nice program. I wish you made it for the TI-89 earlier, I missed out :)
A thing to include in the next version might be a better use of greyscale. When I convert videos in "Real greyscale" I only see a few appearances of grey colors, even though there is more appearances of grey in the movie. Longer movies with perfect conversion quality would be awesome too, but i wouldn't know how to do it. Nice program and keep up the good work!

Well, the greyscale you see on the conversion window (right one) is a bit weird, because I've used blue pixels to mark area's that have not moved much since the previous frame. I recommend using greyscale emulation 50/50 for optimal results. The video's will be about 10 times longer than with real greyscale and the quality (and speed!) are probably better, too.

That DLL file has been posted at Cahal Technologie's site at

Goto the TIMM Homepage or click the link in the moveable window.

Bug???
Henk Poley  Account Info

When I convert a video it stops converting it after 4 frames. What am I doing wrong? The generated .83p file is about 800 bytes big... I've tried it with all different settings.

Is the video file correct: I mean is it not a partial download of the full video (could happen with iMesh, WinMX and the like). Have you used the preview button to check if it's the right file?

I've had this same problem. I've tried many videos, and I've discovered that it only works if the source video is longer than the maximum size limit for the calc. If the source video is shorter than the maximum, it stops converting and won't finish. Is this supposed to be happening, or is it a bug, or am I just doing something wrong? I've checked, and all the avi and mpg files i'm using are complete and undamaged.

I am having one slight difficulty... it will not put together clips made in DIVX format... though I don't expect it to but there is one specific problem that was mentioned earlier with the program telling me to use TIMM.exe to start it.... it does that after I click on everything just before it begins putting the clip together...

just FYI, it would be great if the program wouldn't loop the video that way the video could be put into games and such for BASIC programmers and have the program continue processing after the video has finished instead of looping once again, and again... that would be great if we could have that changed, or if you know how to put the videos into a BASIC program and have it return to the path of the program without having the video loop endlessly

What's wrong with this thing? I use Windows XP and when I try to convert a video it says something like "Run TIMM.exe to start..." when it's already running in the background. What's wrong?

Exactly, I've had the same problem! Whenever I covert video into any of the calculator formats, all that results is a file named "video.z80" that cannot transfer into my 84+SE. I've tried renaming it to a *.8XP file, yet that doesn't work either. Somebody help us out, please!
