Harper Maddox Releases Rogue Runner
Posted by Nick on 19 December 1999, 04:31 GMT

Rogue RunnerHarper Maddox has created an interesting new game called Rogue Runner for the 82 (CrASH) and the 83 for both SOS and Ion. Rogue Runner is similar to the classic game Boulderdash, only Rogue includes invisible walls and items such as pickaxes and teleport scrolls to help you. It also includes the customary enemies *g*. Rogue Runner is simple yet addictive; you should try it out!

The ION zip file only contains documentation, rogue.z80, and rogue.83p
There is no .8xp version. Don't try using the .83p version on your 83+. ION won't read it.

Actually the ION zip that I got contains:
rogueion.83p
rogueion.8xp
rogueion.z80
rogue.txt

I'm gonna go through the source of the ion ver and see if i can get it to compile for the 83+.

thanks for the comments man. I was trying to do you a favor and port it to the Ti-83+, but since I dont have one its kind of hard for me to test it. Luckilly, myfel@netzero.net showed me that i needed to use a bcall rather than call for functions, a feature not caught by the ion compiler. The fixed version for the 83+ should be up in the near future.

Read the posting guidelines. I know, there's a lot of bright red text, but try to keep your eyes on them for a few seconds. :)

"Don't post general help questions; for such assistance, check our Help section and our Mailing Lists."

Bryan, you seemed to have noticed the posting guidelines. Is that because you were kicked off earlier? You've paid more attention to them recently, however, I believe the duty of noting off-topic comments such as the general help questions and the "1st comment!!!" comments and deleting them lies in the hands of a certain Nathan Haines. Not you. Get off it already!

~ferich
Yes, I do know that my post is entirely off-topic, but I've seen enough mindless babble from Bryan recently to piss me off enough; hence, I write this comment.

Going way off topic, I agree with you. Bryan seems to find anything and everything wrong with ticalc.org and makes sure everyone knows about it... It's a bit ridiculous.

Actually, Nick does an awful lot of that, too, but I'm usually the one who has the final, technical say over what is and isn't allowed by our guidelines.

However, Nick and I ask each others' opinions when we're both online, and of course sometimes the technical judgement isn't always the sane one, so we end up balancing each other out, I think.

SOS ,ION, and DOORS are all shells. They generally assist w/ opening assembly programs. If you are using a TI-89 calculator, you should first put the DOORS shell on your calculator before you can run any of the great assembly games and programs that are avalable for that calc. SOS is a shell for the 83, and ION is a shell for the 83/83+. Hope this helps =)

P.S. I wouldnt mess with any of the new ASM 2.03 and Kernel stuff if I were you, from what I hear, that just makes it so you can't play many games :(
