TI-Nspire Suddenly 50% Cooler
Posted by Nikky on 30 August 2010, 04:33 GMT

The notoriously locked-down and crippled TI-Nspire has shown its "can-do" attitude and can now be counted as an equal in the TI calculator family thanks to the efforts of up-and-coming programmer Jacob Patrick. The best program in the history of all known space has been ported to the Nspire: Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator v1.00000070.

When ticalc attempted to contact Mr. Patrick for further information regarding this feat that will be long-remembered, he only had the following to say: "I rule you." The connection was then abruptly terminated. Lord-god Nick Disabato, author of the original program, was not available for comment at press time. Although he is leading an expedition to South America in an effort to find the remains of ancient calculators buried in long-forgotten pyramids of power, Disabato's secretary promised that she would attempt to pass a message along to her employer. The outlook remains bleak, as Disabato's TI-85 telnet server was acting up as of late.

Update (Travis): For those of you who haven't been around long enough to get the joke, the Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator is sort of a running gag that former news editor Nick Disabato started way back in summer 2000.

It was about time! Finally a program to show what the TI-Nspire is capable of.

Why not v1.00000069, though? D:

Now time to pull out that program that is able to self-improve...

Finally I can justify the purchase of an nspire. I know I certainly didn't buy an IBM compatible PC before Michael Vincent and Nick Disabato released the Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator Operating System!

Keep in mind WFRNG has been a running gag for a decade in the TI community now, though (see link attached to this post). There were a lot of references to it on other forums.

Btw have ticalc finally paid the POTM acronym lawsuit? (see link)

You could sell a copy of WFRNG on Ebay and pay the lawsuit with the profits.

This can only be a sign that we don't have any REAL news to post...

No. In fact, go to the Featured page and notice how many programs that got featured in 2010 so far compared to 2006, 2007, 2008 and the first half of 2009. Ticalc posts fake news from time to time. They just didn't do it as much in the past years since the staff was not as active. Also WFRNG has been a long-running gag in the TI community. Sadly, newer people won't get it because it wasn't transmitted from generation to generation as well in the less active years.

well... this game could have lots of improvements, it's not much of a game, not sure why there are so many comments and commotion, just a simple guessing game.

So if I want a featured program, I all have to do is port this to something else?

Sweet :)
