TIGCC Forks: GCC4TI
Posted by Michael on 12 January 2009, 15:42 GMT

A group of programmers has developed a new fork of TIGCC. GCC4TI incorporates the bug fixes from the latest beta version of TIGCC, as well as additional features such as the restoration of VTI as a supported emulator. The GCC4TI webpage contains links to a mailing list, wiki, and forum. Community input is welcomed to assist the project.

Is that the thing that let you do C directly on the calc? I remember hearing about an on calc C programming editor/IDE but I don't remember the name

No, there's no way GCC can run on a calculator.

The on-calc compiler is called GTC.

Hey, thanks Michael for posting the news (I don't know who submitted it ?) :)

Perhaps even more important than a Wiki for working with a community, is the bug report / feature request / patch tracker. It's great for storing the todo/wish list in a centralized public location, and allowing the community to comment on it.
TIGCC has been lacking one for years. We still have no other way of knowing (part of) Kevin's todo list than discussions on message boards, and private mails.

For the forum, we're using the powerful yAronet engine. Its reply tracking system makes it a useful complement to the tracker.

Replying to myself...

On the official message board, at [see also the URL below my name for this post] http://www.yaronet.com/ en/ posts.php?s=118173, we've just created a topic asking for community input on the tools of GCC4TI and the way they interact together.

Godzil and I planned on posting this very topic later this week, but we made it sooner, because GCC4TI made news here, so it looks like a good opportunity to attract as much community feedback (which we think is really important) as possible.

Thanks in advance to those who will participate :)

Yeah yN system is cool. I like it since I often visit the z80 board there. My only complain is that search engine only find posts from 2007 to 2009 :(
