Bowling for News
Posted by Michael on 29 August 2007, 23:45 GMT

The last time that calculator news was scarce, we posted an article retroactively featuring a program already in our archives that had for one reason or another been overlooked when it was released. Today we present a program that was uploaded in March.

[Bowling]Bowling is an 83+ BASIC game in the form of a BasicBuilder flash application. The game is meticulous in detail, featuring multiple styles of play, several player capabilities, an equipment shop and more, all of which make Bowling sure to please the calculator bowling enthusiast.

I remember this game, as it was one of the many entries into the TI-Freakware contest. Congrats on getting featured!!

YAY I finally have some competition! I had some with Fate RPG (not the one at ticalc.org, another better game by someone who was staff on my forum) but he left :( so I felt kinda alone at the top of the bar x.x

Now I gotta get back into programming tho <.<

And congrats nitacku, this is one of the first game I played in a long while on my calc

I wrote the fate RPG at ticalc. It was my first graphical RPG, so it isn't great, but if your not looking for great graphics and want to do something, download it

well i personally got out of the scene for a while before downloading that bowling game, which is why i didnt tried fate yet, but i am gonna try it anyway, I always try RPGs uploaded at ticalc unless they have no graphics at all (i mean just menus and text)

Kevin was referring to an RPG called Fate RPG in development by JFish on omnimaga with a large following, not your Fate RPG

I wish that guy didnt left, the rpg had even better graphics than desolate, it even had isometric tiles in the last screenshot, and the video made of pictures was just awesome

not to be a pita or anything, but this needs to be re-released to comply with the BasicBuilder license agreement. It should include either the decompilable .hex (with instructions on how to decompile), or all the source programs and images.

Hmm, I totally forgot about this. I guess the author didn't read the entire BasicBuilder readme or forgot this part.

Now there's a huge problem though: the author had a new version of bowling ready for upload for a while now (maybe it even have the hex file/required stuff as you said?), but he resetted his ticalc password and sent it to the wrong e-mail address and now he's unable to use his account anymore. He e-mailed ticalc.org about this and he didn't got any replies since then. :/ so this may take a very long while elfprince :(, I hope they wont remove the file from the archives right now to give him a chance tho x.x

He should e-mail accounts@ticalc.org.

If for some reason no one responds after a few days, e-mail me.

We'll just have to start making news, like the tabloids do!

"TI-89s Only Return 666; End of World Imminent"
- "Only women and children with FLASH shall be saved."

the lack of new decent programs being released at the moment. It reminds be the death period in late 2001 early 2002, I think it will go back to normal one day

Btw i am curious if ticalc has a way to show a list of how many comments each members of ticalc posted here (aka postcount). I wouldn't be surprised if some old members had in the 50000s

Or refusal to feature programs that really should be featured. (DoorsCS 6--!) Rather than random number generators, even if it is a joke.

Door CS 6 (providing the current version doesn't have bugs), Contra 83, xLIB 0.602b and Robowar have all been missed or looked upon, while they are great programs worth a features *hugs Contra 83 ^^*

Thanks guys. :) I have yet to have any replicable bugs reported on 6.1, the latest release.

Good job with this feature; I definitely think it deserves it.

Yeah, I think DoorsCS 6(.1) definitely should have been featured, and the other programs you mentioned probably should have too.

Not to get off topic, but Kerm; whenever I create a set more than 4 folders deep, everything gets messed up?

Yeah I think you're right. There are a lot of good programs... maybe they could even feature long-ago-featured programs to revive them...
