M4r10 vO.94 R3l3453|)
Posted by Michael on 3 September 2005, 04:35 GMT

[M4r10]Tonight we combine more French programmers, leet-speak titles, and concise news articles to announce the release of M4r10 v0.94 by Jean-Francois Geyelin. For the 89/92+/V200, M4r10 is a clone of the original Mario game. Unlike the more modern Mario versions in which you jump on top of enemies to kill them, in M4r10 you must first hit enemies from below and then run into them.

Wow, this is a fine release. How do the modifications differ from the original game though?

This game actually shows one of the features of "Super Mario 3" from the NES. If you played a two player game, and you landed on the same square as the other player, you could push "B" and challenge them. What would happen is what you see in the above article :)

True, but as we all know, the Mario Bros. game came out way before Super Mario Bros. 3 did.

Joeman3429 Is quite correct in his statement. In fact, the first mario game ever, was in fact called Donkey Kong, and has you play as mario, who continuselly rescues the princess from donkey kong. The original platform the game came out on, was the Nintendo NES.

IMPORTANT:
Lot's of people are reporting me that the game crash the first time they run it. It appears you just need te send it again and it will work properly.
I really tested this program a lot on both emulators (VTI and TI-emu) and a real TI89 and it wasn't crashing or anything, but it seems I was just lucky.

Because starting tomorrow I won't have a permanent internet connection anymore, I will have lot's of time to reprogram the game

Still, thank you for the news item.

Does the internet somehow keep you from programming? Are you too distracted by its wonder and beauty to focus, lol

Rather, Mario went from being a carpenter to a plumber, from the Mario bros. and Donkey Kong to the Super Mario games.

It's an extremely fun game, but on AMS3.10 of my TI89 Titanium, it is flickery and crashes easily.

Ditto... I use a TI89T with 3.10 and sometimes, it just crashes it... PreOS catches it, but it leaves me with like ~64KB of ram... so I end up having to reset my calc to get it back. I love the game, but maybe the crashing part needs to be looked into. Love the game. :D

I have an 89T with AMS 3.00 (why did you people upgrade anyway?) and while earlier betas of this game crashed it, this one is flawless. :) Awesome game, although I was starving for a classic Mario clone :D

You should at least upgrade to 3.01. It boots MUCH faster (we're talking seconds instead of almost a minute).

I'll wait for 4.00 ;)

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but:

1. When I turn the calc on with the APPS desktop turned off it boots in maybe 1 to 2 seconds.
2. When I do a whole reset it boots in less than 10 seconds.

From what I heard the 3.01 and 3.10 upgrades were strictly to save battery life when used with some network educational crap, although I may be wrong.

Either way I'll only upgrade for AMS 4.00 ;P

Well, when you graph tan(x), those annoying lines dont show up anymore (discontinuity graphing) and it has a better algebra system. Now when you type in things, it simplifies them down further than it used to.

I actually wouldn't jump for 4.00 because I'm sure there would be MAJOR compatibility problems with all the programs now existent.

And for those testing this game, I would wait until bugs get worked out. For one thing, after playing bomberdude for example, and then running this program, the graphics are all messed up. (tested on 3.01 and 3.10)

AMS 3.10 adds implicit differintation. I feel sory for anyone who does not have a titanium because it seems like TI wants to add useful math features to the titanium an V200 only.

Previously availible using CalcTool app.

And TI made AMS 3.x unavailible for the TI-92+ and 89 normal so they didn't have to support old hardware. Apple doesn't support any pre-G3 processors now, and they soon won't support Classic apps (as in can't/won't run).
It's pruning the deadwood from your suport chain. Every company does it, just Microsoft is slower than most. (Why do they still support 16-bit apps? What's the point? Nobody uses them anymore except in installers, which is just asinine.)

the diffrence here is that the hardware vertions are very close. the titanium is basicly an 89 whith a usb port. I wonder if there is some way to put AMS 3.10 on a legacy 89

There probably /is/, but there's no telling how it wouldn't work, and you stil wouldn't get the best advances (ROM and USB).

ROM is only important if you want lots of games USB is just mildly cool but, the new math features could be quite useful

Most are offered in flashapps which are available on both models. Otherwise they can be added manually, if you know some Assembly or C.

You cannot put 3.10 on a regular 89 because of the OS's signatures. Believe me I've tried. I've also tried putting 84 silver's latest OS on an 83. That didn't work either.

My v200 reseted at like 30 seconds with 2.09 and now it does in 4-5 seconds with the 3.10 with even more apps than before, also the inequality upgrade its been usefull this last week, it is way better than the programs i got around before upgraiding
