Slimeball Arrives for the 89/92+/V200
Posted by Michael on 11 May 2004, 01:37 GMT

[Slimeball on the 89]I'm sure that many of you have played the Java slimeball game that's available on the internet. Well, now it is available for the 89, 92+, and Voyage 200. Just like the original, Slimeball is either single player against the AI or multiplayer on one or two calculators.

There's also a forgotten 83+ version by a different author that has been in our archives for a while.

Yea the 83 plus version is pretty tite and so i this version. The online game is OK for an online game since it has a lot of flashing stuff...i think the 89 version is better than the 83 plus and even better than the real online one

What program do you use to make games on your computer? And where do you get it?

do you mean java games, or computer games in general? There are many ways to make computer games. One powerful solution is directx, with microsoft's visual studio or visual c++, which is expensive. Or you could use opengl and a free compiler like bloodshed dev c++, or something similar. Or you could go to macromedia.com and get flash mx 2004 pro, which has a 30 day free trial. It's written in a javascript/c++ kind of language and is actually pretty awesome. Or, there are tons more ways. If you meant on a calculator, then look up asm guru, and i think that will help you get started, or tigcc for 68k. Well, dinnertime for me...

I want a program for Windows, so I can write my TI 83 Plus Programs on the computer. Simple calc language progs, and then transfer them to my calc. ASM GURU is gone or something.

Download GRAPH-LINK from the link above. You'll have to sign up first (it's free). Unless of course you what to program ASM in which case you should download "Learn ASM in 28 Days", this dude knows what he is talking about.

Or if you arn't into spending time dwelling over code (like me) then you could just Google "Game Maker 5". It lets you make arcade games from "Pacman" to "Mario". It may be taking the easy way out but its free and easy! (Unforutunatly it is also "user-friendly", which I hate(reminds me of Windows))

Its a pretty good java game, but the author needs to use double-buffering to avoid flicker.

the 83 one is really fun on VTI, but on the real calc you can barely see the ball, the refresh rate (or whatever it's called) is so bad

Slime Ball on my 83+ worked perfectly fine. My calc is standard and the contrast is usually @ 8 so I had no problems seeing the ball. The only downfall to the game is that if you position the "mound" (bat) properly then you can always win. Like pressing [ON] in Falldown or [Mode] in Tetris. =P

Heh, lucky program URL: "340/34000" what a number...
I don't have a 68K calc on me and VTI is not one of my favourite gaming platforms so unless it's AI has been upgraded from the 83+ version then I doubt I download it....AI?

Wow, this game is really cool. It's really interesting. I wonder how the math routines work? If I messed around enough, I could probably come up with something similar, with the angles and all. Anyway, nice program. :) I'll really have to check this one out.

BTW, is it just me, or is that Java version really hard!?

if you can read asm then you can find out what the math is for the 83+ version (the source is included with the dl)

Oh my... ASM. LOL Well, I could give it a shot. I looked and there's no source for the 89 version. Maybe the java version has the source code out for it. That would be the easiest to understand.

I think it's extremely hard. The AI hits it too hard for you to get back to, and you have to release the up key before it will repeat.
