Attention span: 8/10 The season mode will keep you playing for a little while. Controls: 9/10 Enter to have the ball pitched, and 2nd to swing. Implementation: 9/10 Very similar to the Tiger Electronics game. Overall: 8/10 A fun game with a few glitches.
Baseball '99 is a very fun game written by Sam Heald. It's based on the old Tiger Electronics game. It has a cool title screen and has three modes of play: Homerun derby, exhibition, and season mode. In the homerun derby, you have a certain number of pitches and try to hit as many homeruns as you can. In exhibition mode, you just play a whole 9 inning baseball game. And finally, in season mode, you play a full season of 50 games and the statistics are saved into memory.
Baseball '99 has simple, yet good graphics. I don't like, though, the fact that you have no control over where the ball is hit. It just goes to a random part of the field. Another thing is that all you do is bat. You can't pitch to the computer. The controls are fairly simple: enter to have the ball pitched to you and 2nd to bat.
Baseball '99 is a fun game with a few faults, but nevertheless it still will keep you playing for a while. |
