Attention span: 6/10 It'll probably stay on your calc as long as any other game over 10K
Controls: 4/10 Sluggish
Implementation: 7/10 Cool firing counter, Shield, Difficulty
Overall: 6/10 Large size + slow gameplay = mediocrity. However, I would still recommend this game over Raptor.
Yet another space shooter for the 82. You see the enemy, you shoot the enemy. Unfortunately, this game brings very little to a very crowded genre. Galaxian brought speed and gameplay. Spaze Invaders brought nostalgia and arcade feel. Alien brought a small file size. Raptor brought random levels and scrolling backgrounds. This game brings a lot of down points.
The gameplay itself just was not there. The game moved slow with slow key response time. The scrolling backgrounds brought very little to the game. The would-be revolutionary firing counter seemed cool, but it also primarily slowed down the game. You know you are playing a bad shooter, when you are more inclined to dodge oncoming enemies than shoot them.
This game does have its good points. The firing counter is a good idea as was the shield. The pre-game graphics are very well done(but considering the game is 10 times the size of Alien, maybe they were overdone). There are no bugs to speak of. After the first couple levels, the game gets really hard, which is refreshing because the other 82 shooters are too easy. Overall, the game is just a little too passive and the size is a little too large for my tastes. |
