Suitability: 9/10 Some aspects are slow.
Ease-Of-Use: 10/10 Very good. The help adds a lot.
Overall: 9/10 Future versions look very bright!
Assembly Studio 86 is a completely integrated development environment for writing programs in 86 assembly language. It features a compiler that was written from scratch, and thus is not completely compatible with TASM (although mostly so). It includes CalcExplorer for browsing your calculator via an explorer interface. It is also possible to compile and send your program with a single click, and to add your own tools, such as emulators, to the customized tool menu.
Version 3.1 includes features such as color syntax highlighting (although it is slow) and plug-ins, which allow you to create multiple types including programs, strings, and compressed files. One of the things beginners will find most helpful, however, is the very complete help file. It has everything ranging from how to use the program to lists of TI-86 routines, and in my opinion the program is worth the download just for the help file. Assembly Studio 86 is definitely a must for beginning programmers. |
