Implementation: 6/10 Could have been much better.
Overall: 6/10 Great graphics, so-so game.

Fantasy Realm is an RPG, starring Kane, a knight just given the right to wield the Guardian Blade of his family by Master Gregory. But just as he recieves this right, an evil being named Zogus captures the Princess, and Gregory sends Kane to reclaim her.

Okay, it's just about the oldest RPG plot imaginable, but it's still a good game. The graphics are large and recognizable, rather in the style of Final Fantasy 3. The monsters are likewise well drawn; goblins are goblins, dragons are dragons, snakes are snakes, etc. (unlike in Joltima, where all the monsters are barely recognizable blobs)

Unfortunately, despite the graphics, it really isn't a very well-designed RPG. The path is as linear as an action game, consisting of only going from battle to battle, and there's little story apart from the intro and ending. (Which, due to the game's huge size, must be included in separate files since it won't all fit on the calculator at the same time.) No interaction with even random townspeople in the towns save for once or twice.

The battle system is well-designed, though quite repetitive in the game. It's based on a Final Fantasy-style real-time battle with the action meter (although the meter does stop for the monsters when Kane's action window is up). However, the fact that there are only five types of monsters throughout the game adds to the repetitiveness of it, although it is improved by the fact that they grow in strength as Kane does.
