Attention span: 7/10 Gets old quickly for some. Controls: 7/10 Odd input key, natural controls. Implementation: 7/10 No bugs, not original, early asm game. Overall: 7/10 Not a bad game, a classic.
ZNibbles is the well known calc game where the player is to control the snake to collect the dots in the screen. The player must collect 10 dots in one level to advance to the next level. The graphics in this game are simple, and the gameplay may be repetitive after a while. The game is not original by any means, and I have played a clone of it for the 86 also. This game is the better of the two I have seen. ZNibbles has also been done in most of the calcs I have seen. There are 9 levels in this game, and these levels can be played in 5 different speed settings. As I mentioned before, this game may be repetitive to those players who do not have the patience to continue playing the game until they finish all 9 levels. The controls of this game are natural, and there are almost no complains about it. One problem is that like most early 86 asm games, the game uses the Clear key as the main input button, instead of the 2nd key. Another complaint is that when one wishes to exit the game with the Exit key, the user is prompted to press the Clear key instead of just being exited out of the game.
In short, while ZNibbles is a fun game that may have a short life span with some players. The controls are responsive and natural except for the main input and Exit keys. The game is one of the early asm games for the 86, so it has the same interface as other games from the time. Overall, ZNibbles is a good game with a short life span. |
