This game includes very polished control, four tools, four types of plants to grow for profit, thirty-two context sensitive events, extensive character animation on over one-hundred background images, seventeen types of manipulable objects, and much more all bundled into the RAM of the TI 83+. Harvest Moon is a great game. It's one of those games that need to be on anyone and everyone's calculator if you really like to play the best that a TI-83+ has to offer.

Controls: 9/10

After the controls are learned, it is fairly easy to use them. It is easy to forget which item your are currently holding though, resulting in sometimes planting seeds where you wouldn't want to plant them.

Gameplay: 10/10

The controls are fairly easy to use, the gameplay is good. Most people complain about how short and repetitive the game is, but how much more can you pack into the RAM of a TI-83+? Most people write reviews overlooking the miniscule amount of RAM these guys have to work with when creating a game on this level.

Graphics: 10/10

I don't care what anyone says, these graphics are THE best for the 83+ series of calculators. Period. Previously, no one had completed an RPG boasting graphics which push the graphical output of the TI-83+ to it's limit. Everyone rants and raves about the raycasting games which are great if you that's what you like, but the playability and the ability to recognize elements in a raycasting game can't touch those of Harvest Moon.

Bugs:

The screen sometimes splits in half, but I have come to expect this from many games. Even Super Mario does this sometimes, probably because the processor is being pushed pretty hard to do so many things at one time. Contrary to popular belief, this game can, and will, play on an 83+SE and the 84+ calculators by running a little known program by James Montelongo that changes the display driver to be compatible with 83+ games.

I also encountered a bug pertaining to the memory usage of this game. Instead of using an AppVar, it stores the savegame file as part of the program. When playing the game, I was stockpiling corn to feed to a chicken I planned to buy. A little over 80 ears of corn in the feed bin, and my calculator locked up with a memory error, and my saved game rolled back to a much earlier state of the game. This is the only notable problem with Harvest Moon that I could identify that isn't some petty cosmetic error.

Overall: 9.5/10

You needed to download this game two days ago! It would have gotten a ten if not for the memory error. I ordered a USB adapter cable and plan to store all my games on a flash drive then, so we'll see how many ears of corn I can stockpile with more RAM free ;)
