Attention span: 8/10 Even if you beat all twelve waves, you'll want to play again. Controls: 7/10 Keys have tendencies as noted above. Implementation: 7/10 That bug puts a major kink in things. Overall: 7/10 With a few fixes this could be a great game.
Pede86 is based on the old Centipede game for the Atari. A centipede, starting at the top of the screen, weaves its way around mushrooms to the bottom of the screen. There are also spiders and fleas which pop up from time to time. If a centipede, spider, or flea hits your wand, you lose it, and you only have three wands. Lose all three wands and you lose.
Pede86 has the distinction of being the first assembly game for the 86 written by someone from TI. Even so, it has a major bug: sometimes when you lose a life the calculator freezes and you must press 2nd, EXIT, CLEAR in order to get back to normal calculator operation. The arrow keys have a tendency to either over-respond or under-respond, and the firing key sometimes doesn't respond at all. |
