Suitability: 8/10 Assembles fast and clean. Ease-Of-Use: 5/10 Interface is all but absent. Overall: 7/10 It does what it's supposed to.
This is, I believe, the only Z80 assembler available for Macintosh. This version assembles for the 83, 85 and 86. The output from this program sometimes has to be slightly altered to produce a file that the Graph-Link will transfer. However, the syntax is relatively standard, and there are a few options for other forms of output (such as Hex Output and Symbol Table). caz is easy enough to use, when you get past the formatting issues. Still, having been ported from another platform, this program is lacking all but the most basic interface elements. The caz project has been abandoned, to the best of my knowledge, and the source code is included in the archive so that aspiring authors may build it into a true development solution. |
