Graphics - 3/5

While the graphics are nothing special, they stay faithful to the original game for the Game Boy and NES. My only gripe is that the graphics sometimes look slightly ugly for the level backgrounds. I am aware that in 2000, multi-shade grayscale was probably really hard to implement, but it still doesn't look great.

Gameplay - 9/10

ZTetris is just as addicting as the official Game Boy version. The 10 levels each give everyone something. Are you new to the game? Level 0's for you! Intermediate? Level 5 or 6! There's something fore everyone in ZTetris.

Miscellaneous - 4/5

The UI is intuitive, the leaderboard is standard yet fun, and the 2-player mode is an intriguing, innovative idea.

Conclusion - 16/20 (8/10)

ZTetris is one of the quintessential games for a TI-83 Plus. I can see why it's one of the 100 most downloaded programs across all platforms. It isn't a masterclass in anything, nor is it a new kind of game. It just takes the tropes used before and uses them really well. It may not be perfect in everything, but it isn't bad or even average in anything either.

All in all, ZTetris is a commendable game, meaning it gets an 8/10.

Attention span: 10/10 Say goodbye to class.
Controls: 9/10 Well placed for play.
Implementation: 9/10 Almost the real thing.
Overall: 10/10 Hey, it's tetris!

Tetris is one game everyone should have on their calculators. It is very similiar to the game boy version. Features include link play, which actually works, high scoring, increasing levels, and next piece preview.

The background graphics change with each level like the original but are not very detailed. The pieces are solid black, abandoning that 3D look, but make them clearer to see on the small screen. The layout is great showing the score, lines, level, and next piece on the left panel.

Gameplay in single player progresses smoothly to higher levels and will keep you hooked. One point of thought: the game does NOT award higher points at higher levels. The high score feature has its annoyances. It shows no cursor when entering your name and it does not indicate that Alpha-lock is on. I would have place an "A" icon in the corner to show this.

Link play also worked smoothly. Players can choose different levels to start at: can be used as a handicap but also faculates cheating. Sometimes when you make rows, the game loads on too many penalty rows to the other player. This really doesn't detract from the gameplay though. I'd blame this problem on the hardware, rather than the game, since the link port is unreliable.

There you have it. Download ZTetris, now, and go play against your friends (in math class).

NOTE: The only difference between this version and the ION version is the shell compatibility.

This is a great Tetris clone that tops all of the others that I have tested. The graphics are great. Only grayscale could top its graphics. There are 9 different levels of play that have there own unique graphical wallpapers. There are 7 different Tetris shapes that can be rotated very easily with two different keys. There are two functions that make this a superb Tetris clone: first there is a link play that allows two players to verse each other, and secondly there is a save function so that you can keep up your ztetris game at different times.
