Pokémon Coliseum is a turn-based pokémon game that sacrifices graphics to provide superior game play. Each pokémon has three or four attacks which they can use to try to overpower the opponents' pokémon (bring the HP to, or below, 0). As well, each pokémon has one or two element types. Each attack also has an element type. Certain element attack types are 'not effective', 'not very effective', or 'super effective' against pokémon element types. In addition to the attacks which lower HP, the second column includes attacks which lower the other pokémon's attack, defense, or speed, or increase the attacking pokémon's statistics.
At the beginning of the battle, you may take out any of your six pokémon. Depending on the relative speed of the pokémon, either you, or your opponent may attack first. The slower pokémon attacks second. After each person has attacked, the statistics screen is reposted. At any time when it is your attack, you may switch pokémon. However, once your pokémon has fainted, or has been brought back, it can not be brought out again until the next battle. The first person to use up all three of their pokémon loses.
May the best trainer win!

ground is
not effective against flying, and the attack
would not be effective at all.
