                        Pokemon for the TI83
                        ====================

                 by Paul Robson (autismuk@aol.com)

Yet another "demo" of a Pokemon game for the TI series of calculators. This
one, is , however , different. It is not an attempt to produce a clone of
the Nintendo Gameboy games on a TI83, as I don't think this is actually
feasible. It's an attempt to produce something similar that will work on
a TI83. It has its limitations, mainly that rooms tend to look pretty
similar....

This is a "sampler". This game is quite feasible to complete, and is
planned out. Is there any interest left in Pokemon ? Is there any
interest in completing this game ? Is someone willing to draw better
tiles for me, and some 16x16 Pokemon ?

So far, one reply. So (almost) zero interest. Still here's an 83+ version
as well and the source.

Features
========

- 64 x 56 Screen game world with forest, swamps, towns, roads, dungeons
  to explore.
- Up to 64 different Pokemon types supported. Players can catch Pokemon
  using Pokeballs in the wild
- Treasure dotted around : items will include cash, Pokeballs, healing
  draughts for Pokemon.
- Player is set tasks involving beating a particular training, collecting
  a particular treasure, or visiting a particular place.
- Game will fit comfortably in a TI83 or TI83+ (est. about 12-14k final
  program size)
- Can create your own Pokemon games without *too* much difficulty.

What you can do
===============

Wander round the world using the map keys. Most of the map is empty,
the "designed" areas in the demo are to the North of where you start.
Enter and exit dungeons (2nd key). View your Pokemon (Mode key). Exit
the program (Del key). Visit Pokemon centres, Professor Oak, and
challenge trainers.... rather ineffectively :)
